A few unusual names for you all

My picking baby names days are long gone, but I do like names.

Here are two I have come across IRL lately.

Both girls, both family names, both very unusual.

Thirza and Dallas.

What do you think?

I don't mind unusual names in the slightest, but those two just don't do it for me. I prefer Dallas to Thirza.

I am a fellow name-nut, btw :)

Have taught a boy called Dallas - can't say i like it.

I know an American girl called Dallas.

Never heard Thirza before, although it sounds more feminine than Dallas imo.

MrsRhettKilledTheButler · 30/10/2010 14:49

although i like unusual names, i don't like place names (except india Blush )

don't like thirza either

Am I completely confused, or is there a Byron poem to a Thyrza? (Will go and check).

Sorry, don't like Dallas.

onimolap · 30/10/2010 15:05

PoemHunter.com has 4 Byron poems To Thyrza. The best known is probably this one.

I prefer Dakota to Dallas as a name.

Mitchymum · 31/10/2010 20:18

The Dallas I know is not named after a place (unless originally), it has been in her family for generations.

Dallas is my friend's stepdad's name, so I'll always think of it as a male name.

Never heard of Thizra, quite like it :)

My DD2 has the middle name Thirza. Its a family name and I HATE it, but its another story as to why the poor mite ended up with it.
