So hubby has just thrown up another name he likes - Freya. I quite like it actually but i'm a bit worried that its too popular?? Do you think it is too popular and if so do u have any similars to suggest.

I think Freya is a nice name. Not sure where it is in the rankings but it is not very popular like Olivia is at the moment. I'm a teacher and we had one in the school last year and none at the moment out of 350. So not massively popular, unless things have changed a lot in the last few years. I like it much better than the other girls names you have suggested. Even if it has become a bit more popular I wouldn't be too put off by that. If you had suggested Olivia or Emily I'd say there would be three in her class at school, but I don't think Freya is all that common.

Freya is a lovely name. I also personally like Erin, Evie and Eirys. Not sure why i am attracted to names begining with an e tho?! Confused

mathanxiety · 21/10/2010 23:58

Freya is so much nicer than Princess, but I can't really figure out your DH's thought process. I would be tempted to say 'Great. Freya it is!' before he thinks of anything else. It's a nice name, lovely sound, and not on top of the popularity lists, though you do hear it occasionally.

proudfoot · 22/10/2010 02:34

Freya is a gorgeous name. It's reasonably popular but not one that you hear constantly so I think it would be a really good choice!

Minione · 22/10/2010 07:37

Freya is much better! I think it is quite popular, I work in a secondary school and there are 3 in year 11 so I'm assuming there are even more little ones. Having said that, better to have a more popular name like Freya than an unusual one like Princess!

HollyGoHeavily · 22/10/2010 07:46

Freya is a very pretty name.

LittlebearH · 22/10/2010 07:54

Freya is lovely. Not too common although my neighbour has a Freya.

Isla (my DD is called Isla)

Freya is a lovely name, and not popular around here, I've only ever met one.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 22/10/2010 16:22

I used to work with one - but she spelled it 'Freyja' - authentic spelling somewhere Scandinavian, I think she said.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 22/10/2010 16:23

Incidentally, I know someone with a Sienna AND a Freya.

rachxx · 22/10/2010 20:37

it was number 27 in 2008

expectingno3 · 22/10/2010 21:16

I too only know one Freya, and don't think there are any in my dd's school.

nelly83 · 23/10/2010 16:02

Love Esme. I work in a school of over 500 pupils and don't know any Freyas.

What about Alexa, Sofia, Cleo, Safia, Amelia?
