...that I know and have been born recently are called

Imogen
Grace
Elodie
Evie
Amelia
Daisy

And permutations including the above for their middle names. i.e. Imogen Grace and Daisy Amelia... How did these names suddenly get so popular? And would you use them?

FWIW when I was growing up the 'default' middle name was Louise. Not my middle name but about half of my mates at primary school.

Yeah, it seemed to be Jane or Louise for middle names in the late 60's/early 70's.

Paige seemed to be popular in the 90's. Not sure what the popular 80's middle names were.

silkymitts · 17/10/2010 15:23

Grace and Evie are popular where I am but the others less so.

Where i live the are loads of Lily's, Olivia's, Maddisons and Lexie's. A names popularity definately depend on where you live. For boy's Harley and names which are really surnames are popular Hmm. Although i don't know any Jack's.

My mum must be ahead of her time, because I was going to be an Imogen, my middle name is Grace and she suggested Elodie as a girl's name about 10 years ago.

Of that list I only know one - Evie. But there are dozens and dozens of Isabellas round my way. DOZENS. On the birth registrar you just tick a box and auto-fills Isabella if you have a girl.

Boys are Josh, Jack, Oscar, Finley and Jake.

TSC I am a 1970' Sarah Louise. My mum swears it was unusual when she chose it!

4andnotout · 17/10/2010 19:50

I must be very predictable as not only is my name Sophie Louise (1982) but my dd's are Olivia-Mae, Elana-Rose, Maisy-Rae and Tilly-Grace. There seem to have been a lot of Lola's and Mia's where we live.

They are all lovely names though, 4andnotout

Heh heh Knitter I'll have to ask.

NB: I was going to be an Archie if i was a boy back in the late mid seventies so she must have some sort of trend radar.

Where I live all the baby girls are called Ruby, Lily, Olivia, Isabella or Evie, and yes all their middle names seem to be May or Rose! The boys are Jack, Joshua, Alfie or Lewis. All are lovely names though so its not hard to see why they're so popular.

I was born in the 80s and when I was at school popular girls names were Rachel, Laura, Jenny and Stephanie. Boys were all called Stephen, David or Michael.
