im stuck. i really am. Naming my DS was easy, im 22 weeks pregnant with a little girl and i have no clue about names

so i pass the challenge onto you lovely mnetters.

I like unusual names but not too far out
mainly anglo/celtic/welsh etc in origin
our last name begins with a "peh" sound
her brothers name is sam (but they dont have to go together)

looked through the baby name finder, all i came up with were

Esme
Ailith
Morven

please help :)

Welsh names are so pretty! (most of the time). Have my Celtic baby names book in front of me and I like Ceridwen, Maeve, Delyth, Eithne, Elowen, Gwen, Rowena, Maiwen, Nesta, Olwen, Tamsin...

I just found: Nárbflhfhlaith in my book.....if you're feeling brave!

QuoththeRaven · 13/10/2010 16:22

lol binkster, if i used that i would feel like i was sneezing!

Eithne was one i thought of, but DH doesnt like it. think it means little fire.

Never heard Maiwen, thats quite pretty...

Vibeke

ValiumSingleton · 13/10/2010 18:24

Clodagh - This is Irish but not really gaelic. It's after the river Cloddy in Tipperary and a Lord living in Ireland called his daughter Clodagh after this river, and the name came into useage. But, over a hundred years ago. It's not new.

Olwen - A welsh name that I just love.

Nollaig - Gaelic for Christmas, and if your baby is due in 18 weeks, will it be about Christmas then Confused

ValiumSingleton · 13/10/2010 18:26

What about Gwyneth? If you can put GP out of your mind it's a good strong name.

minipie · 13/10/2010 18:31

Just bumping this thread, hope it keeps going as it's given me two more names that I love (Seren and Talyn... already had Elin)

and I would add:

Megan
Eleri
Bethan
Maeve

mathanxiety · 13/10/2010 20:01

Beibhinn (pr 'Bevin') -- lovely Irish name that sounds a bit Welsh.
Marsaili (Scottish, sounds a bit like pars(e)ley)
Ailidh
Angharad
Eily -- Irish pet form of Eileen that's much nicer than Eileen imo.

Astrid
Dagmar
Ingrid
Linnea
Marit (Norwegian 'Margaret')

QuoththeRaven · 19/10/2010 16:15

ooh liking! although rather irritatingly dh is saying no to everything i now suggest :(
