Autumn as a girls name??!! Love the name but don't know whether it is a step too far? Smile

I really like it and dont think its weird at all

pinkgrasshopper · 30/09/2010 20:26

Lovely- although you may have prompted a lot of little Autumns, this Autumn...!

mathanxiety · 30/09/2010 20:29

I think it's downmarket, a hippie name that went mainstream.

Faaamily · 30/09/2010 21:06

I like it. Better than Summer Grin

Firawla · 30/09/2010 23:58

I like it, and don't think it is too outlandish or anything. It may be uncommon but atleast people will be able to spell and pronounce it and will be familiar with it thwne they see it. and it is v pretty and just has a nice feel to it

nooka · 01/10/2010 05:39

I agree with mathanxiety on this one. We knew a small Autumn and found it an odd word to use as a name, plus it has no nns (Aut? Um? Fall?). She was American where they don't call Autumn Autumn, which perhaps made it better.

Do bear in mind that the bravery is not yours, but your dd's - after all she is the one that will carry the name for the rest of her life, not you. Having said that the Autumn we knew seemed perfectly happy to be called Autumn.

DS was born in November and in our ante natal class group, there were two Winters and an Autumn! I much prefer Autumn as a name, but just to warn you!

devonsmummy · 01/10/2010 14:02

I love it - strange how certain words make it as names. I would think of all the lovely warm colours of autumn when I heard this name and expect a child with auburn wavy hair
I also love Tuesday for a girls name

mathanxiety · 01/10/2010 16:09

I think Winter has great name potential though.

Rockbird · 01/10/2010 16:11

I know of a Winta if that's at all relevant :)

loopyloops · 01/10/2010 16:16

I love it, but do you have any close friends or family who are American? I have a theory that they say 'fall' because the way the pronounce Autumn is just so vile ('ahdum').

said · 01/10/2010 16:24

Quite like it. Nickname could be Tummy Grin

rachxx · 01/10/2010 17:44

Theres loads of thrm round here. Id go for it

Restrainedrabbit · 01/10/2010 17:44

Lots of opinions! No relatives from overseas at all so issue with pronunciation less problematic:) think we will go for it!

I thought you were going to say boden or montana or something.

Autumn is lovely! A bit unusual but not outlandish. It's a strong and attractive name, not cutesy. I like it.

Bechka · 01/10/2010 21:59

Beautiful name, I really like it.
