Due in two days time and seeking views on my final girls list:

Rosie, Rosella or Rosabelle?

Poppy?
Stella?
Isla (reserve name!)

Which name(s) suit a woman as much as a baby girl? Do any sound made up or are otherwise unsuitable for a lady?

Please post, I haven't got much energy left to think for myself!

We decided on final name when DC2 was four days old! So I know why you want to get it sorted.

I agree that Rosabelle is a bit frilly. But also Rose sounds very safe and a bit dull (Sorry). Rosie is ok but sounds best for a toddler to primary age. Poppy too. Stella is too larger... Isla is great. I think it is on its way up in popularity. Not too common though. (Rosella sounds like a skin ailment).

The best suggestion so far is Rosa Belle. You won't find many Rosemarys at the moment. Or Rosa Marie? I like the French version Romy...

I think apart from Stella and Isla they all sound like little girls names.

Stella is great. Isla is quite fashiony at the moment.

I think of Marlon Brando shouting in A Streetcar Named Desire: "Stelllaaaaaahh! STELLLAAAAAH!"

I know a few Rosies of all ages; I think it suits well.

I like Rosie, Poppy and Isla. Though Poppy and Isla are quite common at the moment. It does mean that when she is an adult there will be lots of other adult Poppys and Rosies though so it will probably be fine as an adult name then!

If you like Stella and Rosabelle.... Why not Estelle? It has components of both.

Ok bit more suitable for a child/adult than a baby, but they aren't babies for long are they.

What about Rosalie, then could be Rosie for short.

Isla Rose is lovely too. Very pretty and womanly.

NotAnotherNewNappy · 30/09/2010 13:27

Have you thought about Rosina? Lovely for nn Rosie. I am determined to have a Rosina.

I like all your other choices too - though I second Estelle rather than Stella.

I like Rosa.

Also Roseline.

Turk1 · 30/09/2010 13:38

DD (3) is called Isla (named before it became so popular!) and DS who I was certain would be a girl was to be Rosa so I like your styleSmile

ducknipples · 30/09/2010 13:39

I have an Isla so am biased Grin

Not sure about Rosie/Rosella/Rosabelle, but I do like Rosa. The one I know is lovely Smile
