Or are there any other names meaning 'star'?

I love Estelle. :)

Or you could go with the Dutch "Sparkle"! Wink

Estelle is my SIL's middle name. I like it a lot as it ticks my boxes for being both pretty AND old-fashioned.

mhmummy · 23/09/2010 07:16

Esther also means 'star'

PaulineCampbellJones · 23/09/2010 07:18

Gorgeous, prefer Estella.

Appletrees · 23/09/2010 07:20

Great Expectations. Haughty girl. Classy and lovely.

ValiumSingleton · 23/09/2010 08:23

I prefer Estelle. Estelle is beautiful.

Estella is neither one thing nor the other. It's very like the spanish for star, just an r missing. (Although I know Estrella is used occassionally in Spanish speaking countries).

Does Esther mean star? never knew that.

belindarose · 23/09/2010 08:43

I love Estelle. Doesn't go with our 'L' heavy surname, sadly.

RamblingRosa · 23/09/2010 08:44

Stella means star too. I like both Estelle and Estella.

I prefer Estella - or like RamblingRosa suggests, what about Stella?

MrsSdownunder · 23/09/2010 11:24

Just had to have a say, my mum is Estelle and it's one of those names that suit when you are young and also with age. Mum will love me for saying that :)

Kathleen123 · 23/09/2010 17:23

I prefer Stella.

BlackBirdEggspecting · 23/09/2010 18:16

Hello there! I think Estelle is a lovely name and easier to say than Estella. For that reason, people would be less likely to abbreviate Estelle. All the best. :)

NadiaWadia · 24/09/2010 01:31

In order of niceness:

1st Stella - lovely name(ignore idiots who only connect it with the beer!)

close 2nd Estella (great expections etc, classy)

  1. Estelle - a bit 'old lady' somehow, but OK
