Patrick Stuart

Would it be evil to name a child Patrick Stuart? We would call him Patch.

We would love to honour my fathers (biological and step) if we have a boy and my dad is known as Paddy (Patrick is his mn)& my step-dad is Stuart (his mn doesn't go with our surname.)

What do you all think?

You a big star trek fan?

Haliborange · 22/09/2010 19:42

It's fine. People never really use middle names anyway.

I'm not sold on Patch though, tbh. Is there a particular reason for it?

anonymousbird · 22/09/2010 19:43

Assuming from this that Stuart is the middle name, and it won't be generally in use, other than at formal occasions/on documents, then you are probably fine.

Vote 1 - not evil.

scurryfunge · 22/09/2010 19:43

Fine, love Patch as a nn.

Lauriefairycake · 22/09/2010 19:45

it's lovely and most won't notice the trekkie connection

I would - but I have a big crush on Patrick Stuart anyway Blush

PuppyMonkey · 22/09/2010 19:46

Do you mean would it be evil cos of the Star Trek assoc? Not imho. You'll find that no-one ever gets to know his middle name anyway, until he gets married Wink so I can't see why middle names are always such a big deal!

PuppyMonkey · 22/09/2010 19:46

Patrick Stewart anyway isn't it?

ravenAK · 22/09/2010 19:47

I know a Luke S Walker.

He manages to keep his middle name hidden...[;)]

Threelittleducks · 22/09/2010 19:48

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! Brilliant!!

(are you being serious though?)

I love Mr. P.S a lot, but no.

I could not say it without laughing. Out loud. Sorry.

Trubert · 22/09/2010 19:52

All I can think is Star Trek Star Trek Star Trek.

But I like Star Trek. So I think that's fine.

I think Patch is a name for a dog though. Sorry.

Notyetamummy · 22/09/2010 19:53

I just love Patch as a nn - I saw it on here!

Also Paddy, the other Patrick abbreviation, is my Dad's name.

We don't mind Star Trek, but aren't big fans. I wouldn't want people to think that he was named after Patrick Stewart.

Do you think, for example at his wedding, when he says "I, Patrick Stuart Surname take you..." everyone will snigger?

Lauriefairycake · 22/09/2010 19:55

nah, Patrick Stewart will be dead by then

ValiumSingleton · 22/09/2010 20:14

I don't think that's a big deal. He's not a serial killer, just an actor. I really like the name Patrick, and lately Stewart/Stuart growing on me.

I'm not a huge star trek fan, but even so I think that it's fine!

I don't think people will snigger because of his full name when he gets married. It's not a funny name really - though people might recognise it as the name of the actor. People did snigger at my DH's middle name when we got married, but then his middle name is 'Neville'. So I think Patrick Stuart is remarkably sensible by comparison.

(DH's mother still can't see what's wrong with Neville.)

Notyetamummy · 23/09/2010 08:54

Thank you so much everyone,

you've all really set my mind at ease.
