So far this is all I have managed to come up with and wondered how the names sounded to you girls?

Any suggestion very welcome!!

We are looking for something pretty, fairly 'solid' and not too common...

Thanks in advance!

Some people use an alternative spelling of Roselyn. I seem to recall that there was a character in Shakespeare called Rosalyn. Or was it Rosalind?

Kathleen123 · 23/09/2010 17:20

Prefer roselyn (I expect nn would be Ros). Like Harriet, when spelt Harriet.

Kathleen123 · 23/09/2010 17:22

Lucinda, now I have seen your post I prefer Rosalind to Roselyn.

LucindaCarlisle · 23/09/2010 19:52

The only other thing you have to consider is whether the abbreviated name Rosy would go with her second name. For example if your second name is Leigh or Lee then that combination "Rosy Lee" is rhyming slang for cup of tea.

LucindaCarlisle · 23/09/2010 19:54

Yes, Rosalind is quite a rare name.

Ineedsomesleep · 23/09/2010 19:55

Harriet.

Rhubarbgarden · 23/09/2010 21:03

I like Harriet and also Rosalind.

NormanNorris · 23/09/2010 21:59

Prefer Rosalind, and love Romy, Rosina, Rowena.

lola0109 · 24/09/2010 21:11

I love them both, they were both suggestions for DD2 but as DD1 is Ainslie, Harriet was ruled out.

Roselyn was in our top 3 all the way through.

It's a lovely name and I live Rose/Rosie for child and then Roz for when they are older.

pippylongstockings · 24/09/2010 21:18

I like Harriet - Rosalind is nice but agree Rosie is popular at the moment so it depends if you are concerened about that?

A1980 · 25/09/2010 18:56

Roselyn is gorgeous. I've never met one. I agree about the pronounciation though: I would say it Rose-lynne rather than Rozlin.

I don't like Harriette. It's a bit poncey.
