I dont like primrose tbh i think lilly rose sounds nicer

cupcakebakerer · 19/09/2010 11:03

Thanks DaisyDaresYOU. I like an honest opinion - particularly as our child is going to be stuck with whatever we call it for the rest of its life! x

Too much together I think.

brimfull · 19/09/2010 11:10

nice for a sweet feminine slip of a girl
shame if she's not

SirBoobAlot · 19/09/2010 11:12

Pretentious and so sweet I think I can feel my teeth decaying.

EauRouge · 19/09/2010 11:18

Cute for a baby, far too twee for an adult.

cupcakebakerer · 19/09/2010 11:22

Hmm - yes EauRouge. I do see what you're saying...

too much flora. Lily and Rose in the one name? I wouldn't pick it myself.

Lilian Rosemary with Lily for short would be more to my taste. I think Primrose is AWful. Like Rosemary though. I like Rosemary Lily or Rosemary Lilian too.

lol at sirboob!

KittyTwoShoes · 19/09/2010 12:41

It's a bit flowery all in one name, I think. I like Primrose though! Not such a fan of Lily.

Rhubarbgarden · 19/09/2010 18:39

I like Primrose. But I find Lily a bit wishy washy.

Lily Primrose is really pretty!

But she will usually only be called Lily, and there seem to be at least 2 in every class atm.

Lilith is awful!

hobbgoblin · 19/09/2010 18:46

is she like a lily or like a primrose? she can't be both, you just can't have two flowers in a name can you?

in my view, the name has qualities which one wishes to reflect the child hence my opinion above.

nooka · 19/09/2010 22:45

I'd go for Lilian Primrose to slightly deflower/sweetify. I think you can just about use Primrose as a middle name - it's more interesting than Rose at least (lovely name but a very popular middle name at the moment).

Lily has been popular for a long time.

chaya5738 · 20/09/2010 12:45

Awful in combination, I am sorry.

I like the suggestion of Lilian or Lilia to de-sweetify it though if you really love Primrose.

sophiesmummie · 20/09/2010 13:08

I agree - 2 flowers together are too much, choose one or the other. Which flower do you prefer?

Namewise, Lily is very common, whereas Primrose is less widely used. Not sure about nicknames for Primrose though...

seeker · 20/09/2010 13:10

I know a 14 year old Eliza Primrose. Which I think is lovely - but I do have to say that from the minute she could express a preference, she has hated it and called herself Lizzie - refusing to answer to what she thinks of as her soppy, girly name!

cupcakebakerer · 20/09/2010 13:32

Ooh I do like Eliza Primrose seeker
