This was top of my list for DD1 due in November, but worried it's becoming rapidly popular this year. I've heard it's also top of the shortlist for a few mutual friends.

Please don't call her Beau. It is French masculine. How about Belle or Bella?

Next door have a female cat called Chico, which means boy in Spanish. I can't help but judge them for it and think they must be stupid. Please don't do that to your poor daughter.

Also, "Bo" here where I live means "chav".

for a start the correct pronunciation is Boo-di-Ka, but many people say Bo-di-see-a

and whilst I think it's a great heroic, resonant name it's just not fair to label a 21st centry kid with it

I'm afraid I agree with the people saying no. Beau is a masculine word. So as a girls name, it is not correct. Wouldn't pick it as a boys name either to be honest.

There are two versions of the name Boudicca/boadicea, one popularised in the 18th c by a popular poem. Of course you can use it. There was a Boadicea on the street where I grew up.

Yes, a few mutual friends, don't consider myself a snob but the type of people they are is why im slightly put off tbh

Unless you are 100% gone on the name I would put it on the backburner until you have your baby maybe - praps you'll take one look at her and decide she is an Edith .

Isabeau is from Elizabeth which became Ilsabeth and then Islabeau. Because Beau is masculine it changed to Isabelle in France.
