I'll just give you the list, don't hold back :D

Noah
Ryan
Charlie
Jack

Any suggestions? I like Henry too but I think cute for a young child and nice for an older man but not a teenagers name. We also have an Alfie already so a little concerned names ending in ie and y clash, having said that they are individuals and I want the name to be just right for them.
Opinions appreciated.

They are all (including Henry) quite popular "nice" choices. Which one sounds best with your surname?

LittleCheesyPineappleOne · 19/09/2010 10:19

Not so keen on Ryan, the others are ok if a bit popular.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 19/09/2010 10:24

All fine. Apart from Ryan.

skidoodly · 19/09/2010 10:24

Malachy?

Edward?

pointydog · 19/09/2010 10:31

Noah - not keen. Too of-the-moment and too boaty.
Ryan - I like it. A little bit tuff.
Charlie - a bit namby-pamby
Jack - I've come across so many of them recently, I'm tirinf of this name.

CupcakesHay · 19/09/2010 10:40

Henry can have nickname of Harry if that helps? (all the king Henry's were called Harry - in fact isn't current Prince Harry really a Henry or am I making that up?)

I agree - i'm going to have a boy and having difficulty finding a nice name that's not in top 20!

I like Ryan best! I have an R surname so can't use it! I also like Rupert.

I called my son Elan, pronounced like Keelan, there's no emphasis on either syllable.

I chose it because it can't be shortened to anything, and it's a lovely sounding name which I think might be welsh in origin. I found it in a baby name book.

Charlie and Jack go best with Alfie.they are both classic names that suit all ages.

What about Oliver nn ollie? I have a Charlie and that was my choice for another ds, but ended up with a dd.

pinkyp · 19/09/2010 11:22

i think Charlie is the best, dont really think its namby pamby as someone said...ronnie and reggies older brother was called charlie (gangster film - the krays)

jennyee · 19/09/2010 11:23

We have an Alfred nn Alfie and his brother is Oliver nn Ollie.
But Jack and Noah are both fab, not a fan of Charlie and Ryan is okay. Henry is great too!

Hi all, they all suit the surname really. I have not actually come across another noah although it seems popular on these sites and I know it sounds sad but it actually makes me think of the good looking blonde surfer on home and away rather than the ark but a lot of people do say 'as in the ark?' I love that Charlie and Henry are quite strong traditional names but it makes me think they r bland at times, yet at the same time I don't like overly unusual names as they to me can come across quite chavvy or really pretentious. I had this problem with my other ds and when he arrived i picked a completely different name to what we had originally picked and I dont think much of the names we had before now yet my son has made me love the name we chose so in that respect I do think a child can change your perseption of a name. Thanks for replies btw. x
