Do you like either, neither or are you frankly not in the slightest bit interested in what I intend to call my wombfruit?

I don't like either.

But they're both surnames!

I'd struggle with that and feel that people would would get their names round the wrong way.

Depending on your actual surname of course Smile

I want to hate Harper, it's everything I dislike in a name ie. it's a surname, clearly, it's androgenous....but....I actually am rather keen on it. Same goes for Parker for a girl, I can't help but love it, shame on me.

I have a friend with a DS called Harper, and also friend with DS called Ellis. My niece has Harper as a middle name. Both names are fine, but I wouldn't choose either.

My DCs do, however, have quite popular names and am sure DS2 will be one of many with same name when he starts school (amazed DS1 is the only one with his name).

I like both. Have a DS called Ellis, it was his Scottish grandfather's christian name. It annoys me when MNers dismiss it as a surname just because in their experience they haven't encountered it as a first name.

Only downside to Harper I think is the literary association which might make it seem rather American. Would you mind that?

I don't like Ellis. At all.

Harper is great.
