Opinions on Cora?

I think it's pretty and quite unusual (I don't see it around much at all) while still being a simple and easy name.

Thinking of Cora Jane...

What do you think?

In my 8 years teaching I've not come across a Cora, so for me that makes it fairly unusual. Nice enough name too.

Wilts · 18/09/2010 08:12

I know of a Cora, but I had never heard of it until I met her, So I don't imagine she would be in a class with other Cora's.

I am not overly keen on it, but I think that is because my Ds1 has a name with only one letter different so it sounds like a mis-pronunciation of his name to me.

bamboostalks · 18/09/2010 08:12

I think that sounds lovely. Haven't come across any Coras either, it is quite refined somehow.

diddl · 18/09/2010 09:45

Sounds very "old lady" to me.

piratecat · 18/09/2010 09:57

Unusual and pretty.

Particularly like Jane as a middle name - so much more classy than the usual Rose, Grace or May.

domesticsluttery · 18/09/2010 10:54

DS2's godmother (we have been friends since school) is called Cora. I think it is a lovely name.

SirBoobAlot · 18/09/2010 10:58

Really dislike it.

Sounds like "Cor Blimey" and "Dora the Explorer" combined. Not good.

Rhubarbgarden · 18/09/2010 11:14

I like it. Not too fussy.

meadowlarks · 18/09/2010 14:48

I love it because it reminds me of Agatha Christie. I can't remember the exact book but there's a very elegant Cora in it. I certainly prefer it to Clara/Cara/Coralie/Claudia.

SmellsLikeTeenSweat · 18/09/2010 14:50

Wasn't there a Cora in The Waltons? One of the neighbours, I think.

It's nice.

LetThereBeRock · 18/09/2010 14:59

I really like it.

MrsC2010 · 18/09/2010 16:59

Nice.

mathanxiety · 18/09/2010 18:29

I associate it with middle aged ladies, and I think I would put it in the Ethel and Mavis category personally.

letsblowthistacostand · 18/09/2010 19:36

I think it's lovely. Cora Jane has a really nice rhythm. It is a bit old fashioned but so is Florence and that's super popular right now!

TotorosOcarina · 18/09/2010 19:37

I love it.

couldn't use it though as it rhymes with my DDs name :(

thebrightside · 18/09/2010 20:00

Very pretty

Rach109 · 18/09/2010 20:07

I quite like it and wouldn't class is in the old lady category

Sequins · 18/09/2010 20:09

Love it.

IsThatTheTime · 18/09/2010 20:11

I like Cora but what if she marries a Mr Napple? Wink

said · 18/09/2010 23:20

Great name. Think of 'Last of the Mohicans'

Wasn't she Corbette in the Waltons?

nannylocal · 19/09/2010 03:05

I like it. There's a Cora in that Hugh Grant film 'Music and Lyrics' she's the young popstar one.

KittyTwoShoes · 19/09/2010 12:58

I like it. I know of one little girl called Cora, she's the only one I've ever come across, and she's lovely. And very talented. So I have all positive associations with it!
