Hi
Do any of you know any little Anguses - outside of Scotland?

Thanks for the help

I know one aged 5 - down south.

We're contemplating one (but undecided as it's also our cat's name - but that's another thread). We're in Norfolk. I know of another 1 or 2 in the Cambridge area.

We do have Scottish roots, though and it's the only name we can both agree on that no one in the family (apart from the cat) is also called.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 16/09/2010 19:45

Yes, an English adult in London.

LittleCheesyPineappleOne · 16/09/2010 19:46

I only know one - 2 years old, Glasgow.

scurryfunge · 16/09/2010 19:48

I have one. Don't know any others.

mazzystartled · 16/09/2010 19:53

I have a 5 month old one. (NW)
it's a real love it or hate it one.
younger people seem v positive, old ladies tend to look appalled.

scurryfunge · 16/09/2010 19:54

DH's Scottish relatives thought it was very old fashioned at the time (16 years ago).

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 16/09/2010 20:06

I know (Scottish) FIL will think it's a strange choice - he can't understand why we picked 'Hamish' as a mn for DS1.

LetThereBeRock · 16/09/2010 20:19

I don't,but go for it. It's a lovely name.

LoubyLoubyLouLa · 16/09/2010 20:27

I know a baby called Angus nn Gus. Not in Scotland, although dad's parents Scottish.

MollysChambers · 16/09/2010 20:29

I don't know any little Anguses inside Scotland!
Go for it. It's a very under-used name IMO.

SirBoobAlot · 17/09/2010 10:01

I know two, both around my age (20ish).

emmyloo2 · 17/09/2010 10:26

I know one baby in Australia and one adult in Australia.

Faulous name though! It would be on my list except it doesn't go with the surname.

neversaydie · 17/09/2010 19:16

I have an Angus. Now 11, and born in the north of England. DH comes from Scotland, and we wanted a Scottish name that everyone could pronounce and spell, and was still unusual. It generated a lot of comment when DS was little. So far as I know it was all positive.

It does seem to be an unusual name even in Scotland, where we live now, although there has been at least one other in each school DS has attended.

I also know a 40-year-old Angus, who comes from the Highlands.

I think it is a lovely name, but I guess I would!

jem1980 · 17/09/2010 23:56

I know a baby Angus in North East England. Only the one though.

nookies · 18/09/2010 09:23

thats really encouraging, was worried it was getting trendy with the London smart set!

Very common in my family - most in Scotland and some in NZ, one in US! Love it and if I'd had a boy I would've named him Angus. Grin

Ineedsomesleep · 18/09/2010 09:27

I know one in the NW but he is about 90, lovely chap Smile
