I don't like it. Either of those names is fine as a first name, but I don't think Mia works as a middle name. Not with Poppy.

Just13moreyearstogo · 11/09/2010 00:02

Doesn't really work - sounds like a product rather than a child. Agree with Trubert.

cece · 11/09/2010 00:13

Sounds like an Abba song. So no, not together.

sophieandbelly · 11/09/2010 08:10

dont love mia as middle name but think it sounds ok together, love poppy tho

blueshoes · 11/09/2010 08:22

Poppy as a first name is a bit strange on a full grown woman. Imagine that on a CV - erm, no.

violethill · 11/09/2010 08:25

Agree with blueshoes.
Poppy is a 'fluffy' name.

ozmetric · 11/09/2010 12:43

Gorgeous, I like both and think they go well together :)

SirBoobAlot · 11/09/2010 12:58

They don't work together at all. They blend together and sound like an illness.

SherbetDibDab · 11/09/2010 12:59

Poppy Mia, Here we go again, My My....

SirBoobAlot · 11/09/2010 13:01

Well you certainly wouldn't forget her Grin

TheCrackFox · 11/09/2010 13:07

I like both names but I don't think they go together well.

CharlieBoo · 11/09/2010 13:18

LOVE Poppy, please don't listen to those you say Poppy is a strange name on an adult, I would love to be called Poppy and am 31! I know a Millie in her 50's and when our kids are that age it will be common place.

It's a waste of time asking what people think of these types of names as on here its either too common, popular or 'fluffy'!

NiceCuppaT · 11/09/2010 13:34

I think poppy is fine for an adult - I know an adult one!
Don't think poppy and mia go together though.

Firawla · 11/09/2010 22:16

I like it! think they go together fine

proudfoot · 11/09/2010 22:43

Surprised so many people aren't keen - sounds a nice and pretty normal name to me and I don't see what's wrong with Mia as a middle name!

A1980 · 11/09/2010 23:18

Cute for a child but that child will grow up.

Rockbird · 12/09/2010 18:53

Poppy is the most hideous name, well, not quite as hideous as Meredith but very close. Mia is fine if a little dull.

whostolemyname · 12/09/2010 19:07

I think its really lovely.

Tigerdrivesbackin · 12/09/2010 19:09

just no

lolabanola · 12/09/2010 20:14

Completely agree with the ABBA comments ... sounds like one of their songs.

Mia is a nice name. Poppy is a very sweet name but couldn't imagine it on a grown woman. Both are decent names, just not together.

cathn · 13/09/2010 10:41

I like both names and think they go fine together. Plus, even if they didn't (which I don't think is the case), you hardly ever say someone's full name anyway so not really an issue IMO.

I think 'Poppy' will be fine on a 'grown woman' since a lot of names like Poppy are quite popular at the moment so when she is grown up it will be quite normal!

It's a bit like how it's hard to imagine certain 'old lady' names on a baby at the moment - when those old ladies were babies it obviously sounded perfectly reasonable!

daisystone · 13/09/2010 15:29

For me it's a no.

Mia is so prevalent these days. It is a fairly recent name. I belive it comes from Mia Farrow and is a shortening of Maria.

I think it is verging on the chavvy.

Poppy, for me, will always be a dog's name.

babysoon1 · 17/09/2010 13:36

Poppy - lovely name!

KERALA1 · 17/09/2010 13:50

Poppy a fabulous name - for the under 3s.

Kathleen123 · 17/09/2010 14:26

I love Poppy as a childs name, but if your child grows up to be a polititian and run for Prime Minister, it may not be so suitable.

It is a very pretty name though. Perhaps Poppy as a middle name.
