Arianna for a girl?

What do you think of this name?

I really love the names Amelia and Amelie but I don't want something too popular.

I'm Indian and OH is English so I'm thinking we can have something a bit different for our children's name rather than the traditionally English names.

I really like it.

I saw it in the end credits of a tv programme recently, although I think it was Ariana with just the one n, and thought at the time how nice it was.

I had a Iranian friend at school and her older sister was called Ariane which I always liked but I think I now prefer Ariana.

ttalloo · 10/09/2010 12:05

I think it's lovely.

You're so lucky. DP won't even venture pretty, unique names. I think it's a really pretty name. Different, but still classy.

Ineedsomesleep · 10/09/2010 13:11

Beautiful.

PomPotty · 10/09/2010 13:14

really lovely

lifeas3plus1 · 10/09/2010 14:45

Really pretty.

I also like Aviana (or Avjana).

There's some lovely girls names and Arianna is one of them.

Rosebud05 · 10/09/2010 15:16

There's an Arianna at my kids' nursery - it's a lovely name.

ManicMother7777 · 10/09/2010 17:10

Gorgeous.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 10/09/2010 17:17

Love it! A good strong name.

onimolap · 10/09/2010 17:20

It's a lovely name, but my DH vetoed Arianne/Arianna on the grounds of "goes like a rocket"

mybootsaremuddy · 10/09/2010 18:43

I LOVE it. It was what dc4 was going to be called if he had been a she!!!

foreverastudent · 10/09/2010 18:47

love it, would def use it in the future with poss nn aria

I cant decide on arianna vs ariana though

it was the girl in Jurrassic Park's name IIRC

DilysPrice · 10/09/2010 18:54

Nice, pretty, not too poncy, easy to pronounce (IMO), and not too difficult to spell apart from the n/n thing.

Nothing wrong with it.

I wouldn't say Amelia/Amelie are too popular though - they're not in the top 50 are they? and I've certainly never met one.

Bumperlicious · 10/09/2010 19:37

Do you say Ariarrna or Ariaana?

ValiumSingleton · 11/09/2010 12:27

I prefer 'just' Arianne. Arianna sounds a bit woolly or vague.

EleFunTess · 11/09/2010 12:32

I know an Arianne and an Ariana (Aree-ar-na).

I like Arianna (Aree-anna) best, though. Great name.

Jenda · 11/09/2010 14:47

Really really lovely :-)
