What do you think of tha name Lilou for a girl?

How is it pronounced? It reminds me of Leeloo which was the name of one of my guinea pigs, who was named after Leeloo in "The Fifth Element."

Despite that, I like this name. If I hadn't used it on a guinea pig I'd seriously consider it for a future child!

In France it would be Leeloo but in England more like Li-lou.

My DP loves this name, specifically because of the 5th element.

I love it when it's said Li-lou, like Milla Jovovich - beautifully spoken with the emphasis on the lou.

But I was worried that it'd be said Lee-loo like you might say see-saw IFSWIM, which isn't nearly so pretty! (But then again I thought of reasons why not for 8 baby-names books worth of names!)

Very popular in France at the mo, its cute for a little one, but for a grown up woman in business, I'm not sure how credible sounding it is.

It's a French name isn't it??? It's probably great in France (along with Elodie & Suzette) but doesn't sound quite right to my British ears. As the others have said, it would sound a bit ridiculous on a grown woman.

I love it, I'd picture a middle aged woman called Lilou as being an arty creative type, not chavvy at all. If you like it, go for it, at least she won't be in a class with 10 others of the same name!
