It's an anglo-saxon name for a boy, meaning basically "loved". Please discuss.

That is just such a hideous name, I wouldn't do that to anyone.

MummyLovesSadie · 28/08/2010 07:14

Any name with 'fric' in it should fric-off! Grin

Bonners · 28/08/2010 11:19

How does one pronounce that? I do think Leo is a good solid name to go through school with. The fric bit might get him beat up though...

DandyDan · 28/08/2010 15:59

Earl of Mercia, husband of Lady Godiva.

I think it works, and is easily shortened.

PaulineCampbellJones · 28/08/2010 20:15

When I worked for BT I used to stay in the hotel Leofric when I travelled to Coventry. Bloody awful place.
Do like Leo though.

Sounds great. There's always a rhyme or song to be applied to most names so every name is a potential risk. You can't live a life worrying what other people will think all the time!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 28/08/2010 21:53

I love it. But then I like Anglo Saxon names.

Do you say it LEOfric, or LeOfric?

I'd bags it myself for DS#2, but DS1 is Theo(dore) and Theo 'n' Leo? Nope. Grin

seaturtle · 28/08/2010 21:58

Said this before but I'll say it again- I LOVE this name. Never heard of it before this thread but if I ever get pregnant again it's going on my list!

mopsyflopsy · 28/08/2010 22:02

Never heard it before, but it sounds like a strong, masculine name. Easy to spell and pronouncable in most languages. So, yes I think I like it Smile.

essenceofSES · 28/08/2010 22:04

I'm sorry but it immediately makes me think of Lofric which is a brand of catheter...

zapostrophe - I'm in awe! Well played Grin I had to cap my madness at Atticus, Algernon and Cuthbert for my DSs. If I'd had my way they'd have been Godric, Alaric and Alban.
