What is your opinion on the name Franklin James?

It's OK. Not particularly keen on Franklin as it is the name of a dreary tortoise in a US series of issue books for little ones, but that's just my prejudice.

Love it. I'd nn him Frankie when wee.

D Roosevelt

I prefer plain Frank - the 'lin' bit is rather girly.
Frankie now seems popular for girls, or is that just a local thing here.

Thanks for all comments. I also love Frankie as a nn birdofthenorth. My first choice was Francis, but DP thinks of that as feminine, so suggested Franklin. Only have a week to go till DD and starting to panic that we don't have a name we both love! We both like names starting with R: Ryan and Rory, but his surname starts with an R and not the best letter for alliteration!

I love Franklin! Would be top of my list except it would be too many hard k sounds with my surname, also cat is called something similar.

horatia · 24/08/2010 23:04

Prefer Francis or Frank.

Franklin sounds like a surname.

LynetteScavo · 24/08/2010 23:21

Kinda cute.

I like Frank, and Frankie when he's tiny, but don't like either Franklin or Francis all that much. I think they might grow on me though. Franklin is v dignified.

Hmm. Was about to add Franklin to our DS2 list (just because I like Frank) when DH pointed out that DS1 is Theodore. We can't have DSs called Theodore and Franklin! Grin
