Every time I see the names we have chosen on here my heart sinks

We've chosen names for our baby due in a few months - don't yet know whether a boy or girl so have chosen one of each plus middle name. The names are 'normal' ie both in top 150, but not particularly popular, except I keep reading about them on here as names that might become popular or fit a trend. Should I change them - my heart sinks every time I see them on here...

I love the name Grace. DH vetoed it.

Go with what you love, and don't worry what anyone else does.

FWIW DD has an unusual-ish name (never met anyone of her age with same name), but DS has a very common name (2 others in his nursery room called the same).

Makes no difference to me, as I love their names, and they suit them perfectly.

I have twin girls, who are now 7. We named them after two ancestors, one on dh's side and one on mine - obviously we loved the names too. Both names seemed very uncommon at the time, but now one has been consistently in the top 5 for the last few years, and the other is rapidly gaining in popularity, if this forum is to believed. I'm not bovvered though, I still love both names for their special family connections and because they just 'are' my gorgeous girls.

Youa re all right - and MN is so not reflective of the 'real world'. I said to a friend who is outside the MN bubble the other day was she going to feed her baby puree or do blw and she looked at me like I was mad - I forgot most people have not even heard of blw let alone stressed over it. Same for names - don't suppose there are that many Arlos, Milos and Noahs outside of the MN community!

Bollocks to it. If I like a name and DH agrees, then thats all that matters. Not if anyone else likes it or if its too 'common'.

Don't give a toss. Call them what you like. Smile

I'm glad I wasn't on MN (no computer Shock) when I named my dds. I have seen the names DH and I chose described as 'poncetastic', 'bodentastic' and 'trying too hard' Grin (trying too hard to do WHAT, I don't know).

I thought we just chose lovely names.

Both of my daughters have names I have loved for years. DD1 is named after a girl I worked withb in a call centre at uni as I just love hner name. It was a fairly unusual name rthen but is top ten now, I love it!

DD2 is named after a liitle girl I did work experience with in a school about 15 years ago. It's still not that popular now but I've seen it on the next big thing threads on here and it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

If its a name you really love, you just don't care
