Not one I'd considered until I met one recently?

It's a grower I think?

I like it. It's cute

Doodleydoo · 22/08/2010 12:40

I'm not sure - Wally?

usualsuspect · 22/08/2010 12:41

Its awful

lurcherlover · 22/08/2010 12:45

Wimpy and namby-bamby. The sop in the Bash Street Kids was a Walter.

MummyLovesSadie · 22/08/2010 12:55

No no no!

onimolap · 22/08/2010 13:01

I was at school with a Walter, but he was invariably known by his middle name instead. It was so linked with Walter the Softie from The Beano then (but isn't he called something different now?)

There's also Walter Walrus in Letterland.

I think it's a nice name, but might be hard to live with.

LetThereBeRock · 22/08/2010 13:01

Noooo. It's terrible.

Flighttattendant · 22/08/2010 13:04

It's lovely. Ds2 was nearly Walter but it was pipped at the post by something very similar, which is equally odd and lovely!

Go for it.

onimolap · 22/08/2010 13:07

oh - and another awkward association with Walter Mitty

Pogleswood · 22/08/2010 13:08

I would have loved to have called DS Walter,I've always liked it and it was one of my Grandad's names.
I couldn't face having a child who would be nicknamed Wally, though.

Bagpusstree · 22/08/2010 13:11

Quite cute for a newborn, but not for a teenager IMO.....

elvislives · 22/08/2010 13:55

My FIL is called Walter. He has always been known by a nn because it is so awful.

PuppyMonkey · 22/08/2010 14:07

Very bad

BalloonSlayer · 22/08/2010 14:13

God no.

Know someone whose Dad was called it, and insisted all first born sons were too. They all considered it a really shit thing to do to a child.

tummytickler · 22/08/2010 14:22

I love it - Walt is a really cute nn too!
I know one of about 8 who is a lovely boy, he has a real quirky character and his name really suits him.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 22/08/2010 18:22

The Softie.

AT1137 · 23/08/2010 08:33

What about Walt then there would be no need for it to be shortened to Wally. Walt is good for an adult name too so suits both baby, child and adult.

yellowflowers · 23/08/2010 09:49

I know one. Not keen myself but you know, as with all baby names you get used to it and now it is just his name.
