I have hidden these baby name threads now, the stuff women are coming out with is getting more and more ridiculous. pansy dolly. Poor bleeding kids.

inveteratenamechanger · 21/08/2010 15:05

I prefer Tansy.

mathanxiety · 22/08/2010 05:45

Another name for tansy is mugwort.

It was used for centuries as a cure for internal parasites, and also to induce abortions.

Pansy is an soft insult in this house (DH started it, we have 3 boys). Along with Dippy, Dipbrain, Turnipbrain, etc.

kittywise · 22/08/2010 08:02

There are many plants called mugwort, odd that. We have the wormwood mugwort round here.

zozzle · 22/08/2010 10:06

I think its an insult boys use to mean "gay".

sedgiebaby · 22/08/2010 11:40

One of my 'tests' is if I was at a business meeting and we did intro's how would I feel giving my name as ___ sorry but Pansy fails my test hands down its just not strong/credible enough for me.

mathanxiety · 22/08/2010 23:22

Tansy might be the wormwood mugwort as its volatile oil contains thujone, which is also found in absinthe. (Chernobyl is the Ukrainian word for mugwort or wormwood, interestingly)

I love my herbs. Have homemade tinctures galore in the cupboard and have made a wicked comfrey salve that seems to be curing all manner of skin ills in the kittywise house.Smile

Sorry - do not like one little bit

Not a fan of names that are cute on a baby but not great (IMO) for grown woman
