Feminine, unusual, ethereal girl's names- any ideas?

I would like some ideas for girl's names that are not too commonly used, feminine but not feminissima if that makes sense!

Am looking for something light and slightly exotic sounding.

I have a few ideas so far:

Adela
Jessamine
Marguerite
Juniper
Vivienne
Marina
Camilla

Any opinions or other ideas??

PS - I do love Jessamine, but for some reason it makes me think of margarine? :-(

My daughter is called Ayla, it was taken from a series of books by author Jean M Auel called 'The Earth Children'. There was a film made of one of the books called 'Clan of the Cave bear' starring Daryl Hannah as Ayla.

I think the name is simple and pretty and have since been told that in Turkey it stands for 'the moon' or 'moonlight' which to me only makes it more appealling!!!

Good luck anyway and if you have already had your liitle one...congrats!! x

oooh Daisysden that is one of my favourite books too! DH and I both loved it and love that name. She is the best character ever! I'm interested to know how you pronounce it - is it Ay-la or Eye-la?

jungleboogie · 05/01/2011 22:13

Aria!
I nearly used this for my DD, but wasn't brave enough.
Could also be Ariana if you prefer something longer.
Elodie?

daisysden · 05/01/2011 22:28

We say Ay-la but much to her annoyance though lots of people do say Eye-la. We wanted to use the name for our firstborn 24 years ago but he was a boy and he was followed by 2 more brothers but finally 14 years ago we had our girl! Strangely enough, she looks just how I imagined her from the books. Tall willowy and blonde. She is also a mad tomboy and always climbing trees and throwing herself around getting injured, not at all girly, just like her namesake! So if you want a girly girl, good luck!

In her entire life, she has only known 1 other Ayla (who was also named after the books) so it's nice and unusual too. x
