Victoria is lovely.

Psammead · 14/08/2010 10:14

My name is Victoria and I like it. I went through a Vicky stage as a teen but shudder at it now.

kiwidreamer · 14/08/2010 10:24

Much prefer Victoria, then you/she can go between Vicky / Tori as NNs perhaps, definately wouldnt go with Vickie on its own.

NiceCuppaT · 14/08/2010 10:47

Pollard!

Victoria is nice though.

SirBoobAlot · 14/08/2010 10:59

Victoria.

zenoushka · 14/08/2010 13:26

Victoria NOT Vickie.

Lora69 · 14/08/2010 14:24

I think its horrible. Too many girls ages mid 20-s to 30's named Vickie, makes me think 'low rent'.

Victoria is better. But it will always get shortened to Vicky, so i dislike that tbh for that reason.

rewardgirl · 14/08/2010 14:46

One of my best friends is called Vicky (not Victoria). She carries it off, but says it is a real pain as everyone presumes that she's actually called Victoria - said that it's a real bugbear.
So - for this reason and all the others above, I would suggest Victoria which can then be shortened as desired :)

tummytickler · 14/08/2010 15:34

I like Victoria and love the nn Plum.
Vickie/Vicky is horrible as a nn, and even worse as a given name!

Effjay · 14/08/2010 15:36

I really like it Smile

nancydrewrocked · 14/08/2010 15:39

Hate the spelling

(and as the owner of an "ie" instead of "y" on my name it is a PITA as I am always correcting spelling)

prozacfairy · 14/08/2010 15:53

I automatically thought of Pollard. Blush

Sorry.

Victoria shortened to Tori is nice though.

ValiumSingleton · 14/08/2010 20:03

Don't like it at all. Victor for a boy is great - love that, but Victoria is too long and it's not 'pretty' exactly. Plus, Vicky is very Debbie/Sharon/Jackie. Just too dated to sound appealing YET. Maybe in 15 years?

Thanks
I am French and I don't know this name, and what is Pollard.
but it's good to know your opinion.

Victoria is lovely, not keen on Vickie though.

lifeas3plus1 · 15/08/2010 21:51

I agree with Victoria with nn Tori.

proudfoot · 15/08/2010 22:04

Victoria is a beautiful, classic name.

I wouldn't put Vickie on the birth certificate - definitely too informal and personally I don't even like it as a nickname.

JuicyLips · 15/08/2010 22:14

Im a Victoria, and love it as I can be Vicky to my friends, Tori is what my close family call me or Victoria, which is great for anything I want to be formal and I used it for my school work. So would go with Victoria rather than just Vickie, but whatever you go with both are good.

catinthehat2 · 15/08/2010 22:16

If you are French, I can understand the 'ie' on th end, otherwise it doesn't work for me. But surely start with Victoria as the given name, and have Vickie as a nickname?

Atlasive · 17/08/2010 18:52

I like Victoria, with Vicky as a nickname instead of Vickie.
