I love these names, but does anyone have any opinions on these?

I prefer Morag.

5DollarShake · 13/08/2010 06:58

Wow. Really, really neither.

Of all the myriad girls' names on God's green earth, you've whittled them all away and are left with these two...? Shock

hana · 13/08/2010 07:26

Mabel is a fab fab name
not so keen on Morag. I had a uni prof called Morag - she'd be about 80 now

PosieParker · 13/08/2010 08:56

PS...I can't remember a day when someone hasn't commented on what a lovely name Mabel is!!

Remotew · 13/08/2010 09:42

OK Mabel is growing on me.

Kathleen123 · 13/08/2010 10:28

Mabel - love it!

SirBoobAlot · 13/08/2010 10:34

Must say though - if you're not Scottish you might get some odd looks.

DS has a Welsh name, simply because it was the only one we could agree on we liked it, but every time I say his name, the answer is, "Oh, are you Welsh?". Gets slightly tiresome. Just to warn you!

PaulineCampbellJones · 13/08/2010 10:52

Mabel

Shabbychiclover · 13/08/2010 11:18

Mabel at a push.

How on earth could anyone like Morag??Ugly name imo.

Bluebell99 · 13/08/2010 11:24

I think both are awful. I always think would I as a grown woman want to be answering to the name "Mabel" or "Morag". They are both awful ugly names. What is your name? Would you really want to be called something so ugly? Mabel sounds like an old woman and Morag sounds like a hag.

BalloonSlayer · 13/08/2010 11:26

Oh they are both awful.

Like this.

SummerRain · 13/08/2010 11:27

Morag is fabulous

Not so keen on Mabel, tis very grannyish

tanmu82 · 13/08/2010 11:53

Ewww. Morag sounds like a name for a an old witch and Mabel is just so little old ladyish. I'm all for the revival of old fashioned names, but these really are a step too far. My mum wanted to call me Thelma and I am eternally grateful she didn't!

tanmu82 · 13/08/2010 11:54

Grin @ balloonslayers link!

PosieParker · 13/08/2010 12:49

Morag like a hag.....what a dreadful thing to say.

PadmeHum · 13/08/2010 12:51

Mabel is utterly fabulous.
Morag has a darker side to it, that I am not keen on.

cumbria81 · 13/08/2010 13:52

They are both beyond hideous.

Sorry.

piscesmoon · 13/08/2010 13:56

I agree with cumbria81.

Clary · 13/08/2010 13:57

I love Mabel soo much. DH said no.

I think Morag may be a bit out there is you are not a) Scottish or b) in Scotland!

Clary · 13/08/2010 13:58

Ahh pisces methought you (like me!) were a fan of the old-lady-name phenomenon? Am I confusing you with seeker then? Grin

yama · 13/08/2010 14:02

Another Scottish person who thinks Morag is an awful ugly name. I had a friend at school called Morag and I felt sorry for her.

Mabel is growing on me. I can see its cuteness but it does have old lady connotations (for me).

onestepforward · 13/08/2010 14:03

Love Mabel!

piscesmoon · 13/08/2010 17:32

I'm afraid that my pet hate is names at the turn of the century, Hilda, Elsie etc, so you must be muddling me! Mabel is one of the better ones. I like the classic-Sarah, Elizabeth etc Clary (sorry)
