Hi all,

We are having trouble with a girls name and as you know you can't really ask friends or family for advice, so I'd really apprecaite any feedback.

We are thinking of calling our daughter Millie and then would like the second name to be after my grandmother, Marion.

Do you think Millie Marion sounds funny with two M's? Should we add another name inbetween?

Surname starts with H by the way!

thanks for any suggestions!

Oh I love Marion.

I don't think two names with the same initial sounds odd (esp as noone would presumably ever actually call her Millie Marion), but if you are concerned why not have Millie as a nickname and give her a longer version for a "proper" name: Camilla, Amelia, Emilia etc.

i normally quite like alliterative names, but somehow millie marion doens't quite sound "right" to me
what about Amelia Marion, and just use Millie as a nickname?

"Millie Marion" reminds me of the Milly Molly Mandy books. I like Haliborange's suggestion of a longer name, with Millie for short.

I like Millie but Millie Marion just doesn't go well together IMO. It's not the MM as lots of same initial names go well (Jacob James etc) it's the sound of it somehow.

Maybe a name in the middle such as Millie Grace Marion would be better, depends on your surname. Or maybe you could do Millie Marion-Grace or something?

Otherwise what about Emily/Emilia Marion (nn Millie) or Amelia Marion.

thanks for all of your helpful suggestions.

I agree that Millie Marion doesn't sound quite right. I have considered Amelia or Milla as a full name to be shortened, but I really don't love either enough. DH and I really just love Millie.

Not sure if we should have a more formal name to give DD options when she is older, or stick to what we love? What have others done?

Seems like if we do this, we will have to add a name inbetween the two M's, as they just don't sound right. Hmmmm.....

You could have another name which can be shortened to Millie such as:

Camilla
Emily
Matilda
Melinda
Melissa
Mildred
Millicent
Romilly
