Just how badly would Sookie go down?

I'm not PG. Just broody.

But I love the name Sookie! Most people around here have quite traditional names though (DD also) so, how likely do you think it is that 'Sookie' would get catsbum faces?

Susannah is a fabulous name. Personally I think that Sukey is probably the worse nn for it though, it just sounds terribly wet to me. Sookie is just a bit silly.

shitforbrains · 06/08/2010 09:51

sook/sookie means whingy or sulky in Aus

ValiumSingleton · 06/08/2010 10:07

I haven't read or watched any vampire programmes, but I read that this is racing up the name charts in the USA.

The chef from Gilmore Girls is also Sukie, so it's probably going to take off there more. Probably sounds practically mainstream there now. I like it but I would put Susan(na) on the bc

mamaloco · 06/08/2010 10:35

I disagree with the pronounciation of Suki, it is very close to sook-E (probably where sookie comes from). It means love in Japanese.

emptyshell · 06/08/2010 13:10

It's my cat's name (as Suki) - and she also gets called Pukey by me... possible nickname kids would call a child by as well?

alexisfaith · 06/08/2010 15:06

No, much as I love True Blood, I don't think you should call your daughter Sookeh Grin

Use Suki if you must, as it's the genuine name.

LaundryLyne · 06/08/2010 15:42

Much prefer Suzy or Susan.

Fibilou · 06/08/2010 15:54

All I can think of is the prostitute than Gene Hunt took to the wife-swapping party in Life on Mars I'm afraid

pranma · 06/08/2010 16:08

My friend is Sukie as nn for Susanna-I had a cat called Sukie too.
Sookie isn't real surely.

menaceandmayhem · 06/08/2010 16:19

I tested Suki on the baby name board yonks ago, (when I was registered under a different name) and got slated for it :(

Funny how a programme on vampires can change opinion!

4madboys · 06/08/2010 16:26

we always liked the name Suikhi for a little girl, but now that we are actually having a little girl we have gone off it!

i did know a really lovely little girl called suikhi and spelt that way as well, not sukey, or suki, tho there seem to be a few different spellings about.

didnt realise it was related to a vampire prog, i dont watch any of them at all, but now i def wont use the name!

justonemorethen · 06/08/2010 21:09

I knew a Suki and she was very posh but really up herself too. Not a nice posh like a Poppy or Lily but more like a Verucca Salt...
Sookie is OK but everyone will assume you are a bit of a chav calling her after a TV character.
And of course it could be a boy which wouldn't work at all....

CheerfulYank

You KISSED Jace Everett??!!!??!

Envy Envy Envy Envy

CheerfulYank · 06/08/2010 23:22

Well...he kissed me. And I said, "Quit it, I have a boyfriend." And he said, "Ok, sure." And then we went back to talking about the blues. :) There you have it-my one sort-of celebrity story. Unless you know who Mitch Hedberg is, in which case I have one more. :o

innocuousnamechange · 06/08/2010 23:25

cluckyduck · 09/08/2010 16:49

I do like it.... buuuuuut it would be a bit like calling her Buffy. Sorry!

cluckyduck · 09/08/2010 16:51

I like Suki though Smile

CLB1 · 20/08/2010 20:38

I had a puppy called Sookie once and then there is the true blood series.
Honestly not for me but it doesn't matter what anyone else says if you like the name!
