Loo-CHEE-a

I like it

NiceCuppaT · 04/08/2010 18:54

Lu-chia is nice
any other was isn't!

NiceCuppaT · 04/08/2010 18:55

Any other way I mean!

bobbygeorge · 04/08/2010 18:59

Like Lu-chia. Lu-thia sounds Spanish. Nice too IMO.

Kingsroadie · 04/08/2010 19:42

I like it prounounced the rarer third way:
Loo-Shuh (that sounds slightly horrid but do you see what I mean? I know somone who pronounces it like that). But like the other ways too!

weepootle · 04/08/2010 19:48

Don't like Lu-thi-a, prefer Lu-sia unless you are actually spanish/italian etc.

CreepyFunbags · 04/08/2010 20:33

Love loo-chee-a.

mumtoabeautifulbabyboy · 04/08/2010 20:46

love lu-chia
Dislike lu-sia

Lu-thia will mean a lifetime of correcting the way people pronounce it!

proudfoot · 04/08/2010 22:37

Luthia I think it will cause problems getting people to say it this way and sound unnatural.

Lucia is lovely as Loo-sia ro Loo-chia. I would automatically say Loo-sia I think.

MrsRhettButler · 04/08/2010 22:39

i automatically say loo-chia... but it is my nieces name (she is italian), i love it, loo-thia sounds like you have a lisp

midnightexpress · 04/08/2010 22:41

I know a Lucia, pronounced Loo-SEE-ah, but she's part portuguese. I would automatically pronounce it Loo-chia, I think, which I don't like as much.

seeker · 04/08/2010 22:41

But it is an Italian name so Lu chi a is the ONLY way to pronounce it.

midnightexpress · 04/08/2010 22:42

I think it's pretty common in Portugal, actually.

onimolap · 04/08/2010 22:43

It's a lovely name.

Before you decide for sure, have you read the E F Benson "Mapp and Lucia" books?

seeker · 04/08/2010 22:48

Oh, OK then, it's a mediterranean/latin name. Syill pronounced Lu chi a though!

SpanishHarlot · 04/08/2010 22:59

In Spain it is pronouced Lu-thi-a

my dd is a Sofia so as they are best friends I am always tripping up on their names.

It is a lovely name as is Sofia..

SpanishLady · 05/08/2010 17:00

I like it - really love Allegra too (from Italian style stable of names) but DH says noooooooo

LilMagill · 05/08/2010 17:07

So many ways to say it (all perfectly valid in their own countries with the possible exception of horrible "Loosha"). Too confusing, I wouldn't want the hassle and I think it's a bit odd if you're not actually Spanish/Italian/Portuguese etc., especially Luthia pron. Also the Spanish put an accent on the 'i' so you should probably do that if you want Luthia. Which makes it even weirder if you're not Spanish.

MummikinsOopNorth · 05/08/2010 18:02

I like it pronounced Loo-thi-yah, but not Loo-chi-yah or Loo-see-yah

Pasiphae · 06/08/2010 12:28

Love the name, I pronounce it as it is written Loo-sia.
