Or-Dree

cece · 02/08/2010 17:31

Or dree

FellatioNelson · 02/08/2010 17:33

Ord-Ree. You may be getting confused with Deirdre, which we tend to pronounce Deer-Dree but more correctly should be Deer-Dreh or Deer-Dray

LaundryLyne · 02/08/2010 17:34

Or-dree

Iwishiwasasleep · 02/08/2010 17:39

Awe-dree

LimaCharlie · 02/08/2010 18:20

I do agree Awe-dree but know of someone who pronounces her name as Awe-dra

booreeve · 02/08/2010 18:32

Thanks for clearing that up, as have heard both, and it's on my short list!

There is a name Audra -- quite American, imo.

I would pronounce Audrey Awe-dree.

tyler80 · 02/08/2010 18:35

"but know of someone who pronounces her name as Awe-dra"

Spelled Audrey? I know a couple of people named Audra (not all that unusual in the states)

letsblowthistacostand · 02/08/2010 19:19

Am american so would say AWE-jree but I know that if you're on Coronation Street is ORD-druh.

pitterpatterfeet · 02/08/2010 19:56

Odd - ray

emmyloo2 · 02/08/2010 20:20

Awe-dree.

FellatioNelson · 02/08/2010 21:31

Odd-Ray pitterpatter???? Why? It is not french as far as I know. And even if it were it would not be pronounced like that, would it?

pitterpatterfeet · 04/08/2010 11:49

It may be my scottish pronunciation FellatioNelson

Colliecross · 04/08/2010 12:03

Ord-ree - all the pillars of the WI - unless called Joyce of course.

ValiumSingleton · 04/08/2010 12:05

Listen up folks, there's no R in the first syllable of Audrey.

it's Awdree

Ordination, Order, Ornery lol, do you pronounce the first syllable of Audrey in the same way?

FellatioNelson · 04/08/2010 12:18

I think people are meaning Aw and Or as a similar sound Valium - that's how I read it.

pitterpatter Don't come on here amongst the English with our correct speech, and throw a spanner in the works with your wrong Scottish pronunciation, confusing the hell out of us please. Don't you know it's all about us?

Colliecross · 04/08/2010 12:34

Yes I do Val

Amberbop · 04/08/2010 16:17

Yes Valium, in my southern English accent ord.. and awd... sound exactly the same. My Scottish Mum would roll her 'r' in Ord so there would be a difference for her.
