What do you think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiink,,,,,,, a quirky classic.

Something like Juliet or Vivien which is classic but not Emily or Isabel.

I love names like Dulcie and Esme for example but I know that I have gone off similar names in the space of a few years before. (Dulcie sounds like an example of a trendy name to me but others may well disagree).

FloraFinching · 02/08/2010 16:08

classic.

It was the name I had picked out for DC2, whom we are now reliably informed will be a girl.

Strix · 02/08/2010 16:09

Thank you. I want honest opinions, even if you think I have come up with the ugliest name in the world.

Definitely a classic. A lovely name.

ValiumSingleton · 02/08/2010 17:07

I didn't see the Miles when I read your post?! How bizarre my answer must have seemed.

Miles is an underused classic

makeupmummy · 02/08/2010 17:10

Classic, love it, vetoed by dh for ds, use it!

LaundryLyne · 02/08/2010 17:33

I like it and think it's fairly classic and underused.

cinnamongreyhound · 02/08/2010 17:43

I love Miles, there have been several of my top choices here today that DH has said no way to

The only slightly annoying thing about it is that it has 2 ways to spell it, with an i or y. Having a name with several ways to spell it and being asked which one I am is slightly irritating or just those who don't bother to ask and get it wrong!

SpiderWilliam · 02/08/2010 18:02

Honestly, I think it is classic, but a bit wet. That's only because it sounds so similar to the word "mild" though.

LimaCharlie · 02/08/2010 18:21

Nice go anywhere name

CupcakesHay · 02/08/2010 18:29

I like it too. Very nice.

Beral · 02/08/2010 19:27

I see that it is predicted to be the No1 boys name in a few years, I can't see that happening myself. (source:freakanomics as mentioned by someone on here).

FranSanDisco · 02/08/2010 19:32

I imagine it to go with names like Julian, Guy or Piers - a little too posh for me though not not nice.

Beral · 02/08/2010 19:35

Sorry it was this www.babynamewizard.com/node/30155 not freakanomics.

meadowlarks · 02/08/2010 20:49

It's nice but I prefer Giles. It just has a bit more oomph to it.

proudfoot · 02/08/2010 20:56

Underused classic

Strix · 02/08/2010 21:05

I just looked up Giles and it means "small goat". Not sure about the oomph factor.

zozzle · 02/08/2010 21:09

Not overly keen but ok - Id go with underused classic too.

Miles much better than Giles IMO though - Giles sounds a bit public school to me (not my cup of tea).

LiquoriceLila · 02/08/2010 21:32

DS1 has a friend called Miles, lovely name IMO. Giles on the other hand is absolutely awful.

Lora69 · 02/08/2010 22:45

Neither. Pretentious. (sorry)

scottishmummy · 02/08/2010 22:54

love it,but v trendy

muminthemiddle · 03/08/2010 11:39

I would say trendy but in a nice way!

dexifehatz · 03/08/2010 19:33

my son is called Dexter Miles and I obviously think it's fab!!!

GladioliBuckets · 03/08/2010 21:47

I've not met a Miles under 30 so I didn't know it was trendy! It's not top 50 is it?
I think it's quite classy. Also like Giles and Guy if that's any help?.
