I like it

capucine · 31/07/2010 17:42

I really love it

rachxx · 31/07/2010 17:48

Not sure if its too fussy? think it would suit a range of age groups though?

No, it doesn't sound fussy, it's a very pretty name.

rachxx · 31/07/2010 17:57

And am I pronouncing it right?!

Lily-ahna

That's how I pronounce it. I went through a stage of absolutely loveing it, but have gone off it a bit now. Still think it's nice, though.

rachxx · 31/07/2010 18:05

I kinda like names like

Lily hence Liliana, and Tia, hence my thread on Tiana. But just not sure. I like Ava too, but think its a bt of a 'now name'.

But my OH really likes Liliana, so at least thats a good thing.

We just can't seem to find a name we really love!

it sounds a bit made up to me.

rachxx · 31/07/2010 18:22

It was very popular in the 1880-1930 period, if that helps anyone make their mind up!

It's a bit frilly-Lily for me.

oopsandbabycoconuts · 31/07/2010 18:35

I love it but DH has a cousin called Liliana we went for Eliana instead.

GingGangGoolie · 31/07/2010 18:39

It's lovely!

If she thinks it's too girly-girly when she gets older she can drop the a and be Lilian, which I also love.

PaulineCampbellJones · 31/07/2010 18:50

Love it. One of my friends is Lilia which is also pretty.

PestoEatsPastiesandSurfboards · 31/07/2010 19:06

I think Tatiana is better.

toja555 · 31/07/2010 19:27

Liliana is OK but I love Luanna.

lalalonglegs · 31/07/2010 19:28

Do you know many Italians? It's just considered a bit of an old lady's name there, like Enid or Gertie. If you don't spend time with Italians though, it's fine.

rachel234 · 31/07/2010 20:38

Beautiful! Works very well in other languages too.

rachxx · 31/07/2010 21:48

Have spent alot of time in Italy, but not really came across it! Its an old lady name in America too, but I still like it!

Oh and I love LILIA!

Lonnie · 31/07/2010 21:53

I like it a lot but she will be called Lily /Lili or ana

rachxx · 31/07/2010 21:57

I like lily, but wanted her to have the option of a more sophisticated name once shes grown up. xx

BelligerentGhoul · 31/07/2010 21:59

Not fond sorry. I think it sounds a bit fussy and made up or contrived, rather than sophisticated. Lily is pretty; Lilian is fine too.

DinahRod · 31/07/2010 22:20

It's a tad too frou-frou for me. Like Lili/Lily and Ana/Anna though very much.

PartialToACupOfMilo · 31/07/2010 22:43

Sorry, but I'm sure I saw a film once called Liljana forever. It was about people trafficking and Liljana went from glue sniffer somewhere in Eastern Europe to being forced into prostitution to jumping off a building and killing herself. I walked out of the cinema in absolute tears - the friend I went with was also sobbing as were most of the people there; it was easily the saddest film I've ever seen. The name just reminds me of the film - although it might have been Lilja forever (?)

On a brighter note it was a foreign language film and I saw it in an independent cinema so probably not many people make the same connection.
