The vowel combination IA is always ee-ah (two syllables) in Irish.

How about:
Ailbhe ('Alveh')
Aisling (Ashling')
Beibhinn ('Bev-inn')
Damhnait/ Davnat ('Dove-nat')
Dervla/ Derval/ Dearbhla ('Der-vla')/ Deirbhile (Der-villa')
Neasa ('Nassa')
Una
Riona ('Ree-uh-na')
Roisin ('Roh-sheen')
Iseult
Caoilfhionn ('Kee-lan')
Eithne ('Enya' or 'Eth-na')

Morag? Roisin? Orla is lovely.

mathanxiety · 31/07/2010 16:41

If you wanted to stay Celtic but not specifically Irish, how about Eilidh or Angharad?

rowingboat · 31/07/2010 19:29

Mairead - which can be 'may-reed' or 'maire-ed'. Diminutives include May, Maisie and Mysie.

juanitad · 31/07/2010 19:48

Cara
Cliodhna
Fiona
Rosaleen

Lonnie · 31/07/2010 21:38

Aoife gets my vote together with Niamh

Casmama · 31/07/2010 21:51

I love Orla.

rowingboat · 31/07/2010 22:09

I like Eimear as well, but I can't spell it, was that right?
I just looked at some Irish girls names to see what else was out there.
I quite liked Ide which is pronounced 'ee-da' and Neala - 'neil-a' if you like the idea of more than one 'n' name or Nuala.

ShoshanaBlue · 01/08/2010 00:32

I think that Orla goes very well.

seashore · 01/08/2010 00:40

Aoife

dexifehatz · 03/08/2010 19:38

I know twin girls called Niamh and Erin, I think they sound good together.

Aoife or Ava

those two names are also my daughter's favourite names for girls

HappyHugs · 13/08/2010 14:19

Funny I have an Orla and was thinking of Niamh as a possible 2nd girl's name. Love Aoife too but not for me as it's been taken!

niamhsmam · 13/08/2010 14:55

Thanks for all you input ladies, we have now crossed Ava off the list so it looks like its between Orla and Aoife. Just a little worried how Aoife will be pronounced here!also its very popular in Ireland at the moment!!!!oh why is it so hard.

Orla and Aoife are both beautiful. I think I prefer Orla of the two.

What about Caragh/Cara? I've always loved it Smile

Orla and Aoife are both gorgeous.

What about Áine?

Aeldredida · 13/08/2010 16:17

I would step away from the Celtic sounding names and go for a pretty but still fairly unusual name for contrast. Something like Naomi.

Aeldredida · 13/08/2010 16:18

Ahh, just seen that you have narrowed it down, both are lovely and you cant go wrong :)

Atlasive · 17/08/2010 23:35

I'd go for Orla out of those two.

sunnydelight · 18/08/2010 02:44

Aoife is an absolutely gorgeous name, but I have to say hand on heart that I have often wished I hadn't used it for DD even though it really suits her! She has lived in England and Australia and it is hard work. Not sure why, maybe because I pronounce it the Irish way with a very soft f, but loads of people say it as Ee-tha after I have explained that no, it isn't Ay-oh-fie. She does get lots of "oh that's a pretty name" comments though so you may feel it's worth it Smile

nelly83 · 18/08/2010 12:38

I think niamh and orla go lovely together. I know some sisters called Niamh and Erin which i think go well too
