Hi ,
I was wondering if anyone has had this with their little ones before? My son is 6 nearly 7 months old and whilst watching him on the baby monitor I noticed one eye seems to change quite often on the night vision, where as the other eye stays the same.

I would have them checked as I’ve heard stories where babies eyes show up strange on photos and it’s been something medical.

What are they like in photos?

Does this happen everyday or just today? If just today, could it be a quirk of the camera angle?

But if it is everyday, I might take him to an optician and ask for a check. There are rare eye conditions that appear on a camera but not to the naked eye.

Hi OP. Best be safe and get your little one checked out.

I have heard of this, and you should probably get it looked at just in case.

If it was my baby I'd get an urgent GP appointment. If your GP surgery crap then ring 111 and ask to be seen by a Dr. Much better to rule out cancer ASAP than wonder what's going on.

My son's eye showed like in in a couple of photos when he was very young, and I had him checked twice. The consultant advised that babies' eye muscles are not well developed at such a young age, and so the eyes reflect light differently as they are at ever so slightly different angles. He said that it would resolve - it did. Nevertheless, get him checked out. Best wishes.

Is this a one off thing or is this the same in every photo?

HereintheloveofChristIstand · 18/03/2025 13:42

That is actually terrifying!

Jokes aside, ease get this checked. My friend’s retinal cancer showed up through a photograph.

He’s under ophthalmology and is actually due to see them on Thursday , so this should give me some answers. He does also do this rapid eye movement / involuntary eye movement that I’ve been told isn’t nystagmus but have been given no answers as to what it could be.

I have noticed it a few times on the camera, he also does a rapid / involuntary eye movement, which I’ve been told isn’t nystagmus. It’s hard not to google as a lot of the things that come up for both of these are the big C, he has an ophthalmology appointment on Thursday so hopefully they can give me some anwsers.

Hope you get some clarity on Thursday.
Very good for you to have taken pictures to show what you mean.

Dc1 had something similar and it turned out to be a mild squint that they grew out of. Get it checked but don’t panic x
