Have I been glutened?

Fairly newly diagnosed coeliac, GF since mid Feb. No significant symptoms before.
Ate at a relatives house at the weekend. Since Sunday eve my stomach has been really sore and uncomfortable. Now I feel bloated and that I might be constipated.
Is this my first experience of being glutened?

Possibly, everyone is different.
Usually you feel ill very quickly, generally whilst still eating the meal or very quickly afterwards.
If my daughter is glutened she has terrible abdominal pain, so bad she can’t think of anything else; she gets a migraine and feels fluey/faint; she doesn’t get diarrhoea but has vomited once or twice.
It lasts 4 days or so but is often followed by a tearful phase/low mood.
It took us 4 years to get TTG down to normal levels and we have found her symptoms are less severe now than when her levels were high.

I hope you are okay OP. Try mint tea, mebeverine, paracetamol and hot water bottles.

If your relative isn't experienced with the zero margin for error when cooking GF then it's entirely possible, I'm afraid.

PS have you found the Becky Excell Facebook Support page? It’s very helpful and friendly. We’ve found it a great support.
CoeliacUK is also brilliant and of course your subscription money goes towards research to a cure, awareness campaigns and support from dieticians etc

Granddaughter has been glutened twice by wrong school lunch given to her.
She is constipated for weeks ,spikes temperatures and very lethargic. It takes about 4 weeks for her to recover 😞

Possibly , it varies from person to person . Our adult daughter was diagnosed at 10 and she has got increasingly more sensitive to any contamination .

Yes, it’s one a the hardest things about Coeliac disease. People don’t understand the need to avoid even the tiniest crumb hidden in a chopping board that’s had gluten on it etc

My daughter has been gluten free since she was diagnosed at four - she’s accidentally had gluten about three times over the last nine years - twice at after school club 🫣. She tends to get an upset tummy and vomit later in the day, often projectile. This was similar to her symptoms before she was diagnosed - I mention this given the symptoms are different to what you describe, but I guess the question might be what digestive issues (if any) were you aware of before you were diagnosed and are your current symptoms similar? Hope you feel better soon.
