Immunosuppressants and Covid boosters

I received an invitation for the Spring Covid booster and I'm wondering whether they are still being offered to everyone taking immunosuppressant medication. I'm also wondering what the uptake is as I'm not sure I want to be having the booster twice a year forever.

I'm happy having the flu vaccination every year as I get zero side effects apart from a sore arm whereas I do get mild side effects
from the Covid vaccinations.

I’m immunosuppressed and do get emails and text messages about getting the boosters, I haven’t bothered. I had one and felt like death, so decided to give any others a miss.

I have the flu vaccine each year and that’s it.

I’m immunocompromised and get the texts too. I have 2 Covid boosters a year and flu shots.

I value them as I feel more confident in public knowing that I am vaccinated. I wish you would have them but it’s a personal decision.

I’ve also had a pneumonia vaccine and the Shingles jab. Just about to book my second.

Yes, I have them. Happily accept anything that stops me catching something nasty

I get an invite but for the last couple of years I’ve only done the autumn one with the flu jab . I’ve never had Covid so I think what I do works .

TheAutumnCrow · 17/03/2026 15:05

I’ve had nine covid jabs in total so far.

I’ll get the spring one because it covers me against a possible visit back to my home country which involves crowded travelling in the late summer / early autumn. Might not get the autumn one though - x2 a year is a lot for my crazy old body to process now on top of everything else.

I will have the flu jab in the autumn though.

I’m also boosted up to hilt for MMR, shingles and pneumonia.

I think the criteria for immunocompromised are a little tighter now but if you are on methotrexate it counts.
I've lost count. I have two a year. I was hospitalised with covid in 2021 and never ever want to feel like that again. I also get really ill with ordinary colds so I'll take anything.

CandidOP · 18/03/2026 14:10

I get the two vaccinations a year plus flu and would get RSV if it was offered. Took me 19 days to get a negative test from my first bout of covid even with anti virals and always end up with a chest infection from the slightest cold. Better safe than sorry - at 60+ I don't want to be wasting months getting over stuff - I want to make the most of my life!

I book my Covid jabs at a local pharmacy and she said she just needs to know which box to tick - ‘immune compromised’ - and has never asked to see any evidence yet. (I take some paperwork & packaging with me just in case.)

Thanks for replying. I'm going to try and get mine booked. The one date our surgery is offering is one I can't do

God no. I get terrible side effects, the worse one being my legs go completely numb and i cant move for 3 days. Also ive had Covid 3 times and was fine. I've had Lemtrada.

SabbatWheel · 14/04/2026 17:25

I got a call to book me in for the spring Covid jab (would be number 10 🤯) but I said no to this one, but keep me on the list for the autumn one.

I should have the flu jab but they didn’t call me over the autumn/winter so I didn’t bother. I’m retired now and each day I see about 5% of the volume of people from when I was working, and haven’t even had a cold since I left work.

People are germy buggers!

Just to follow up on my original post - I did opt to have the booster and had it today
