Humira and Covid Booster Jab

If you are on Humira, have you been eligible for your Covid booster?

I went to my GP surgery today expecting to get flu and covid jabs but was told I'm not eligible for the covid one, after a lengthy and repetitive explanation that the age criteria have changed which i already knew

I'll contact the rheumatologist next week, but just wondered what other's experience has been

You are eligible, most people on adulimubab are also on methotrexate, which is under GP control and why GPs stick them on the lists. The biologics are under hospital control and often GP is out of the loop a bit or code you wrongly as you aren't getting anything from them. Make sure your GP is doing the correct blood monitoring and things as well.

Methotrexate is not prescribed by primary care in my area, I get mine directly from the hospital. However my GP does know about it, it's on my record and they do the bloods monitoring.

I’m on Adalimumab (the active ingredient in humeira) and methotrexate. GP advised me by text to get a Covid jab at the start of October and I had one with no issues whatsoever. I qualified as adalimumab and methotrexate are both immunosuppressants.

Thanks yiu @Plonkydonkey and @isitmyturn .

I was on adalimumab for 4 years until it stopped working and I had to change onto another. I have never had the pneumonia vaccine but do have all those blood test (tb, hiv etc) yearly.
I was called for a shingles one but I think my age triggered that. Horrible side effects to that one for me.
Re the covid and glue jab. Never had a problem getting either at local pharmacies Just told them what medication I was on and they gave it to me. Booked via the NHS App and ticked the immunosuppressed box.
Uptake is really low this year

Flu not glue!

The flu jab is really important this year, to at least reduce the severity of flu. It’s expected to be a very bad flu season.

Also please be aware that we are entitled to early anti-virals if immune suppressed and/or 65 years or older. (Green Book: table 19.4.)

Just a quick update that I obtained the covid jab at my local pharmacy via the NHS app after ticking the 'immunosuppressed' box

It couldn't have been easier. I went armed with all the useful info from this thread (thanks peeps!) and evidence of the medication I'm on but no-one was remotely interested.

All good in the end
