Please help me understand what I should be hoping my GP to do

I've been having symptoms like difficulty losing weight, being cold, periods irregular, non-existent sex drive and difficulty thinking of words or concentrating on anything. It's been ever since I had DC almost 3 years ago but it's got much worse lately. I used to write as a hobby and I cannot anymore because I can barely formulate sentences. My job involves me using my brain and I am really underperforming.

I had blood tests privately done by medichecks and they said that since I have symptoms I should see a GP but in the past I have really had to fight to get anywhere so I am trying to understand exactly what to fight for and what I can explicitly ask for if they dismiss it. I know they likely will need to redo blood tests instead of trusting the private ones.

TSH - 5.7
Free T3 - 5.2
Free thyroxine - 14.6
Thyroglobulin Antibodies - 116
Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies - 222

Folate - serum - 1.8
Vitamin D - 34
Active Vitamin B12 - 30.6
Iron - 44
CRP HS - 5.82.

The letter I got with the results seemed to say that it could be nothing but with symptoms it could be subclinical hypothyroidism. From reading previous threads, I saw that the NICE guidelines said a trial of medication could be done if there's symptoms even if its subclinical. However have tried to find these to print out and from what I read it seemed I'd still need 2 separate blood tests 3 months apart for them to do this?

I'm struggling with the prospect of having to continue for another 3 months like this I can barely do anything and I'm running on empty. I obviously want to also sort out my vitamin deficiencies but I'm also worried I'm going to get told to eat more greens and take some vitamin d and come back in six months, so I am trying to prepare myself.

Bless you - some of the drugs are worse than the symptoms

If you go plant based it will ease a lot of inflammation

Have a look on health unlocked - thyroid uk - they have some amazing experts that can help you frame how to say it

I'd say Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism (autoimmune). I'm afraid the fight is real. The GPs will fob you off with "subclinical" hypothyroidism (it's like being sub-clinically pregnant - you either are or you're not!) and the NHS don't really recognise Hashimoto's. Lots of help on HealthUnlocked, including NICE Guidelines you can arm yourself with as many GPs do not know the protocol with treating thyroid issues, unbelievably. I had to go private and that doctor had to call my GP and speak to them very sternly about the appalling treatment I'd had for 5 years. The endocrinologists are even worse.

A TSH of 5.7 will be making you feel awful.

Good luck OP - the symptoms are really horrible - esp the brain fog.

Ps Dropping gluten helped the worst of my brain fog if it is hashis.
