Blood test results query

I have had blood tests done at GP because I have been sleeping badly and my legs are uncomfortable at night so I have to keep repositioning myself.
My ferritin level is 13.4 and I have a ttg Iga level of 0.3. My crp result is >4 and thyroid TSH 1.8 Free T4 15.
does anyone know if these levels are indicative of iron anaemia or celiac disease? I have several family members with autoimmune issues so wouldn’t be a huge surprise.
i am due to discuss all my results with my GP but not for a few weeks and fed up with being tired and achy.

Ferritin is low and that could make you tired and achy. Can't comment on the rest but that CRP seems okay, from what I know.

@LilacTurtle sorry just checked again and crp is <4 which I think means there is moderate inflammation. It’s all very difficult to make sense of.

My ferritin level is 13.4

Can't comment on the other results but you need at least 70 for healthy hair growth. Low ferritin can show as restless leg syndrome.

I'm not a doctor but from what I understand, CRP has to be a lot higher than that before they are really concerned. Usually at least 12+ for my own GP. It can be raised if you have some good exercise or from a range of things, so it's not very specific.

My doctor likes ferritin to be at least 30 ideally, though even that's not that optimal.

None of this is medical advice.

Ferritin is low at 13. Definitely would contribute to the tiredness.
If CRP is 4 that falls within normal range.

@LittleGreenDragons This is what makes me wonder if I have something more than low iron because I already supplement so is it an absorbency issue like celiac which I understand you can have without obvious symptoms. Restless legs kind of fits but they ache a lot of the time not just at night.

Before I was diagnosed I always felt like there was something underneath that wasn't known or easily detectable. I also have several family members with autoimmunity. I always checked out really well. I'm not surprised it turned out to be in the gut, and it's fortunately very mild for me which is why it could hide quite well. Getting a positive qfit was the best thing to find out what was actually going on. What kind of autoimmune conditions do you have in the family? That might be a good starting point.

Fiftyfiveandcounting · 08/11/2024 22:30

@LilacTurtle @Autumnal589 Crp levels <4 seem to vary between high end of normal range and moderated inflammation depending on where you look.

If you are already using supplements then it might be an absorbency issue but are you taking it with Vitamin C plus not having caffeine either 2 hours before or two hours after taking it (tea, coffee, cola, chocolate etc)?

It will also depend on the type and strength of the supplement too.

My tTG IgA levels were 3000+ when I was diagnosed with Coeliac. Your level is normal - unless you are IgA deficient which was can cause a false negative.

My last CRP was 5 and no-one was at all concerned. That was when I got diagnosed. I'd be delighted if it went down to 4 or less.

Autumnal589 · 08/11/2024 22:35

My hospital always do it as anything below 5 is normal. Anything above is raised.

Fiftyfiveandcounting · 08/11/2024 22:36

@LilacTurtle close family with thyroid, RA, fibro, SLE, raynauds. Always thought I’d had a lucky escape but through menopause by late 40s and put a lot down to peri for a number of years.

Thanks everyone. I’d much prefer it to be something simple I can just do that will make a difference, I’m not hankering after an autoimmune illness I’ve seen how hard they are to live with. Hopefully the Gp will have something useful to offer, I just like to know what to ask before I go these days otherwise it’s easy to get fobbed off.
