Hi, I’d appreciate opinions please as I am not sure if my GP is incompetent or this is now the reality of the NHS. I have type 2 diabetes, hashimotos thyroidis, osteoarthritis. Recent bloods (because I was feeling rubbish) showed a sudden increase in HbA1C to 107 and low Cortisol (198). GP was also testing for a few other things which took a few weeks to come back, negative. He said results needed an urgent referral to Endocrinology with query Addisons disease. It took him a month to refer me, after panicking me about it being urgent, and there is a 17 week average wait time for an appointment. In the meantime I feel terrible and high blood sugars with no intervention. Have been off work sick but need to go back as I can’t see any early resolution to this so will need to battle through. Does this feel right or should I be going back to GP re blood sugars?

Of course, listen to your doctors and do what you think is best, but please look into a low carb diet.
If you have the time read the books Why we Get Sick, by Ben Bikman and The Diabetes code by Jason Fung. Or watch them speak on you tube.

You can control your blood sugars by controlling what you eat. If you switch to a low carb diet, you reduce the amount of sugar that gets in your blood.
Low carb is also beneficial for autoimmune conditions in general, because eating too many carbs causes inflammation.

Best of luck, and best wishes.
