I get pain in hands and feet (psoriatic arthritis) more so if I'm using them more - wouldn't be surprised in your case if using crutches is exacerbating the pain in your hands. It does come and go with all the other symptoms.

If you can bear it you might consider trying to muscle up your arms, wrists and hands with careful exercise. My rheumatologist repeatedly makes the point that more muscle means less strain on your joints.

Treatment really does reduce the pain and slow the disease so hope you get seen soon.

I have Rheumatoid and osteoarthritis.
The RA is fairly well managed with drugs but there's no treatment for osteo. It flares up in cold weather and my toes are currently very painful. I use a lot of diclofenac gel (volterol is a brand).
RA flares up when I have infection. Make sure you have omeprazole when taking naproxen as very bad for the stomach.
