Hi,
my 9 year old recently was admitted to local hospital with a high temp, all over body rash, vomiting and joint pain. CRP was 117 and went up to 189 which then declined after 7 days of IV antibiotics. The rash has subsided and left her with awful dry skin.
we are home now and she is still really struggling with joint pain in shoulders, ankles, hips and knees. I have noticed that she has a little lumph node swollen in her armpit today. Sometimes the pain is so bad she struggles to walk or get out of bed. She is still having to take naproxen to help her manage the pain. We have no idea what has happened to her or if this is a long term thing. Hoping to see a rheumatologist this week but not holding out much hope for answers.
thank you

I'm afraid I don't know, but hopefully someone will be along soon who knows more than me. Sorry that your daughter is so poorly. The rash looks a bit like scarlet fever but I'm guessing the hospital would have identified that.

Just from a quick google, could it be Kawasaki disease? I've never heard of it before but high temp, rash especially affecting hands and feet, swollen glands and joint pain are all listed as symptoms.

Thank you. Yes Kawasaki and Scarlett fever all ruled out. I am just worried about the last effects of joint pain on her and what it could be. Xx

If not Kawasaki have they looked at other types of vasculitis? Did you see a rheum when your dd was in the hospital? What tests did they do. I'd be asking as a minimum for full bloods inc rheum markers

Does she have any stomach issues other than the initial vomiting? If so did they ct scan her?

Did the hospital not know what it was? Did they consider erythema multiform?
