Hashimotos and early pregnancy

Hello. I’ve just found out I am pregnant and was diagnosed with hashimotos in January. Positive TPO antibodies and a TSH of 9.1. Since then, I have been prescribed 50mcg of levothyroxine and my TSH is now 2.35. I am getting hold of the doctors but am fully aware some doctors are more knowledgeable in this area than others so I’d like to go in with as much knowledge as possible. Will antibodies affect the pregnancy? And what will the levothyroxine need to be upped to? Thank you!

Please head over to Thyroid UK and post the question on their forum, the people on there are so knowledgeable. I dont have time to search for the research but i know that as soon as you're pregnant (positive test) before going to the docs you can increase your own levo by 25mcg and it is recommended. Most doctors are so so soooo lacking in knowledge of this, its scary!! Your TSH should ideally be 2.5 and under whilst pregnant and certainly not over 3.0 (a lot of GPs again very unaware of this - very frustrating) You should get replies from Thyroid UK forum with links to be able print off and show your GP if theyre clueless (ive never had one clued up TBH).

If you only have 50mcg tablets you can take 50mcg one day and 100mcg the next alternating days OR you can just split the tablet yourself and take one and a half a day.

The GP has prescribed me 75mcg and my bloods will be retested again in 6 weeks. The GP was unaware if positive antibodies affect pregnancy
