Could this be Crohn's disease?

My daughter (10) has had chronic tummy pain for years now. Coeliac was suspected, but the biopsies say not. They show gastritis and peptic duodenitis. No h pylori. Strict GF diet helps but hasn't fixed it completely. Lansoprazole hasn't helped. Calprotectin test was in the normal range. Very irregular bowel habits but not prone to diarrhoea. Weight is low end of normal. Anaemic for some time, recent blood tests confirmed.

My question is whether it could be Crohn's if her Calprotectin is normal. We don't see the specialist again for a few more months so we're left guessing as to what has caused the gastritis. If anyone has any advice about what to ask the doctor, I'd be grateful.

It is a possibility as it could be higher up eg in the small bowel and people may not get highly faecal calprotectin results. I hope they are going to do further investigations due to anaemia and ongoing pain.

Thank you @lennonj I hope so too. Something clearly is wrong and we really need to find out what it is.

There's a fantastic Facebook page called UK parents of kids with IBD. You will get loads of info and help if you join and ask there. My DD has UC and suspected Crohn's - Crohn's is really hard to diagnose so ,even though the doctors have seen evidence of it during scopes, by the time a confirmation MRI is done the inflammation is no longer there!

Thanks @AngelsWithSilverWings I'll have a look. Do you mind if I ask what symptoms your daughter had that led to the diagnosis?

Hi her's came on out of nowhere when she was 12. Started with blood in stools and then after a week she started vomiting constantly for two weeks until she ended up in hospital after an emergency admission. She was booked in for scopes at Gosh and then diagnosed and put on steroids and immunosuppressants. She's now on infliximab infusions every 8 weeks.

After diagnosis we looked back over her life and realised she had had frequent bouts of sudden vomiting and tummy pain over the years that we had always just put down to a bug. Also eye problems and joint pain etc.
