Intolerance test

I wonder if anyone had tried any intolerance tests (I have seen one that includes a hair sample to send off) My son now has 3 serious autoimmune conditions which are increasingly impacting his life and I feel a bit helpless. So, I wondered if anyone had been successful with the tests where you send hair samples etc off to have some guidance on possible foods to avoid?

The hair sample testing is a waste of money. Seeing a dietician with expertise in food intolerance/allergy is going to help you sort out what is going on foodwise much more effectively. We did hair sampling and got nothing useful from it at all.

My daughter did but she's 32.. came back lactose intolerance ( and other things like champagne..which she doesn't drink) but she's cut lactose out and her horrific stomach problems have gone.

Thank you for your responses. I would normally be dubious but was hoping there might be a trigger identified somewhere.

We have seen hospital dieticians in the past but they said autoimmune conditions aren't food-related, his conditions are very complex so eat a balanced diet and take the medication.

That doesn't mean that people with autoimmune conditions cannot be helped by looking at diet and responses! Is it possible to see a private dietician?

I did a hair one as there was an offer on mine came up with reaction to moths which is true (bumpy rash) and so random I thought the test must be ok

I have cut out all the red list and limited the yellows and genuinely feel much better

Thank you both. I think maybe we should try a private dietician.

I may send a hair sample off anyway - it will be interesting to see if it identifies his allergies and if so see if anything else is obvious.

Our NHS dietician (children's) was more focused weight and the doctors focused on balancing medication but as medication has escalated, (immunosuppressants biologics, several courses of antibiotics) other conditions have arisen. I fear his MH is starting to be impacted by these additional illnesses.

Thank you again for replying.
