A thread for those with psoriatic arthritis?

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in a thread for PsA?
I'm newly diagnosed, not on any treatment yet as I was diagnosed privately and am waiting to see my NHS rheum in the next two weeks. My symptoms are only mild so far (I have very severe nail psoriasis though).
I'm in a PsA group on Facebook, and tbh, it's scary..! I feel like everybody who posts or comments is so severe, in wheelchairs/using walking aids, that I'm starting to feel doomed.

Just looking to be able to chat about symptoms/upcoming potential treatment, and also wondering if everybody suffers so badly?

Both at the same time. That way, if you feel a little rough or sore afterwards, it's just a couple of days in all.

Right. I'll psych myself up for Monday then.

Hello! Just checking in. I started Bimekizumab on Thursday and have had almost immediate relief of most of my pain 🤯 Seventh med; fourth biologic - it's been several years since I last had so little pain. Ankles have visibly deflated! I'd be doing a happy dance if I wasn't scared of buggering up my ankles again 🤣🤣

That's fabulous. Delighted to hear that.

I've had 4 doses of humira and the inflammation is slowly decreasing. I was hoping it would be quicker but I know it can take up to 3 months.

Just updating on my journey.

The humira has helped. I now only have dactylitis in 1 toe instead of 3 and only 6 joints instead of 9 are inflamed. I'm definitely not as tired. However, I have been finding that I deteriorate in the second week of the cycle.

I went back to the rheumotologist today and she's upping got dose to weekly so hopefully that will get me in to remission. I had hoped it would be quicker but at least it's going in the right direction.

A quick question for those of you who have been around the block with psoriatic arthritis.

My fingers have been giving me trouble with stiffness, pain and inflammation. I just noticed today that the middle finger, which is worst affected, appears to be slightly bruised. I've had a hunt on google but other than NSAIDs and steroids causing weakened blood vessels leading to bruising, I can't find anything. I did have a few weeks of tapering steroids in july before starting the humira but nothing since and I don't tend to take NSAIDs for pain relief.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Really sorry, I don’t know the answer to this

OchonAgusOchonOh · 14/12/2024 16:21

Thanks @Seaitoverthere .

Interestingly, it got way worse over the day and then the following day, it got less red but more widespread. However, it's now considerably less stiff and more flexible than it has been for the last couple of months. This was (and still is) the most affected finger.
