Thanks to those on here who kindly signed and supported this earlier, if you haven’t already, please sign and share.
It is getting there but very very slowly, if it goes nowhere it is such a missed opportunity.
A leading endocrinologist is campaigning to improve diagnosis and treatment for thyroid conditions - these are on the increase, and mainly impact women.

Many people respond to standard treatment once correctly diagnosed, and life returns to normal. Others don’t, due to genetic or other factors e.g absorption or conversion of the meds. Support for this could make a real difference. It’s scary how people can be put on statins or anti depressants, before the thyroid is even tested And how once we get one autoimmune condition we seem to get more. Thank you x

Signed and shared.

I have recently started self medicating with Levothyroxine as GP continues to wait until my TSH is over 10.

AutumnCrow · 17/12/2023 07:30

Thanks, signed. My GP continues to have me on a stupidly low dose of Levothyroxine.

Panackelty · 17/12/2023 10:32

That is so typical, Did you test 8-9am before eating/drinking? My Tsh was about 9 later in day so borderline but much higher early morning.

I was started on tiny 25mcg and when i finally got to 75 they wouldn’t increase for 6 months even though tsh was over range and not down to 1. It ended up in its 20s and I felt dreadful and struggled even more to get to work.
Are you on the thyroiduk site forum - I got my advice there on how to optimise vitamins and levothyroxine.
it’s such an exhausting struggle all the time with little support.

Sending hugs, and hope you are getting support you need. If not the thyroid site above might be useful. They seem to avoid early thyroid ultrasounds in the uk as well as thyroid tests unlike some other countries, as they don’t want to do too many fine needle biopsies. I haven’t had ultrasound yet as no visible lump but have high Tgab and hoarse voice and swallowing problems, so trying to pluck up the courage to go privately x
