Biologics/Adilimumab in pregnancy

Hello,
Looking for some reassurance as I'm newly pregnant.
I have Crohn's disease and have been taking Adilimumab since midway through my first pregnancy in 2021. I have never had much in the way of symptoms (I'm lucky, my disease was identified due to an isolated flare up - but i try to keep it managed to preserve my bowel and prevent future complications).
Adilimumab didn't seem to impact my first pregnancy although it may have of course helped and I wouldn't have realised it. I also had a placenta problem at the end, though probably unrelated.
Now I'm 4 weeks pregnant and have just taken my regular dose. I know it's meant to be safe in pregnancy but I think I'm just feeling a bit overly worried and emotional.
Has anyone on here continued their biological all through pregnancy?

I also have crohns and I was on infliximab through my pregnancy with ds2. Ds2 is now 7 and perfectly healthy! In fact ds1 is the one with SEN and I took no medication during his pregnancy. I can assure you biologics are perfectly safe, I was also concerned and checked multiple times with my consultant. I think the most reassuring thing he said was that the babies health is more likely to be impacted negatively by the crohns than the medication.

I not only continued my treatment but had to increase frequency of infusions to weekly due to flare of crohns midway through pregnancy, had no impact on my very healthy and robust not toddler, and everything went smoothly!

Thank you @glp88 and @Whatsthepoint1234 - both really helpful. I know it's better to keep the inflammation down I just needed some hand holding I guess. All feels very fragile sometimes!

Definitely, I was so nervous throughout but was reassured that the IBD nurses were not even phased and had treated plenty of pregnant woman- seems as though they can't do trials on pregnant women hence the lack of good Information etc, but I think keeping you healthy is the absolute best thing for baby too Smile

I ended up having a miscarriage. I know continuing to take my biologic probably didn't cause it, but now I'm pregnant again and quite worried to continue taking it.

So sorry about the miscarriage. 💐

Hope this pregnancy goes well. I think the danger in stopping biologics is that you have a flare in pregnancy.

I understand why you'd want to stop your meds, but please discuss with your medical team before making changes.

Good luck

Thanks @LulooLemon. I think I am going to keep taking it. I just feel anxious about it. I did discuss it with my consultant and they have reassured me that it wasn't the cause. Just hard to stay calm about everything after a loss.
