Husband diagnosed with MS. Heartbreaking to see his decline.

My husband has recently been diagnosed with primary progressive MS. It's breaking my heart to see his rapid decline week by week he's getting worse, and today, he couldn't make it downstairs. We are halfway through doing all our own work on a full house renovation and everything has come to a standstill as we don't have the funds to pay for tradesmen.
It's looking likely a wheelchair will be needed soon.
Anyone else been in a similar situation?

My exh started with relapse remit MS but then 10 years ago was diagnosed with secondary progressive, he is in a wheelchair now, has a suprapubic catheter & has to have carers. The fluid on your dh lungs may be aspirated fluid through his throat muscles being weak & his swallowing food & drink. They may decide that speech therapy will help him or he will have thickening agents for his food & drink to help him swallow safely.

I have MS. What drugs is he on. My consultant was very proactive and got me on IV therapy and escalated when necessary. It's saved my bacon! It's very expensive, so might need a bit of pushing.

Eliot Overton has a lot of videos on YT about high dose thiamine for MS giving very beneficial results.

Most of these suggestions are not appropriate for primary progressive. I'm sorry OP.

My father had progressive MS. I’m so sorry. I won’t post how it affected him unless you want to know as it may be upsetting. If it was the type that goes into remittance it would be different but with progressive they have very little treatment.

Have you had an assessment from an occupational therapist regarding how they can set up your home to assist? Rails in the bathroom for example, a chair that assists him getting up.
