Starting Levothyroxine - will I become thin and energetic?

I was picked up having high TPO antibodies about 10 years ago following an MOT and strong family history.

I have haf my tsh and t4 checked every year or so since.

About 6 months ago my tsh was 8 and t4 12. GP said to watch and wait with repeat bloods a bit sooner. I had no symptoms except for a bit of tiredness.

The last few weeks I've been really really tired so rang the GP who has just prescribed levothyroxine 50mgs so I'll pick up and start on Monday.

I'm lying on the sofa again still in my coat and 2 blankets, feeling weary and cold and I'm fantasising that in a few weeks that I'll lose 2 stone and be bouncing around the house as if I were 23.

Please let me know that this will be true? 😁

ffs I don't understand when anything over 4 is not normal, the doctor leaves you to suffer. Ive had it as high as T3 30s and T4 69 and TSH as high as 6

its fucking awful either way, I was on the floor with a TSH of 6 and struggled

to leave you for 6 months with a TSH of 8 is cruel

you can have tSH tests every 8 weeks, please make sure you ask for a repeat blood test form for 8 weeks time to check, and go back if its not better

serious you poor thing

I did lose weight with a TSH of 6, I completely lost my appetite and was only eating 2 meals a day as I couldn't manage any more food

@NoMoneyForEducation after my lady blood test my GP slightly reduced my dose. I was on 100mcg 6 days a week and 200mcg one day a week, now just 100mcg every day. So I don’t think they’d agree to increase my meds sadly. I definitely feel like I’d be better on a higher dose though.

Thyroid disease really sucks. My metabolism is so slow it’s a joke!

How are you feeling OP, now you've been on it for a few weeks?

I started 100mcg around the same time as you.

My achey legs have gone but I still feel completely knackered most of the time.

I may go GF to see if it helps.
